Hubbard Class of 1967 will
have a class meeting on Jan. 10,
2009 at 5 p.m. at the home of
Cleve Banks, 2563 Old Atlanta
Hwy., Forsyth. This is a planning
meeting for the 60th Birthday

Cars for a cause
The Calle Vinas Benefit Car
show will be held at McConnell
Talbert Stadium in Warner
Robins on Jan. 10 from 9 a.m. to
3 p.m. Old school, modern,
trucks, dragsters all welcome. To
enter call Jennifer Spence at 478-
923-8508 or 478-297-4755. There
are 10 classes. The entry fee is
$20. All proceeds got to the Calle
Vinas Private Home Care
Provider to support disabled peo
ple in obtaining items like hand
controls for vans and home modi
fications.

Habitat to take
applications
Monroe County Habitat for
Humanity will be taking applica
tions for housing Saturday, Jan.
10 at 10 a.m. and Monday, Jan.
12 at 7 p.m. at the Monroe
County Library.
The application process has
been revised and simplified for
the coming year. The initial
application will consist of two-
pages only and the only docu
mentation required will be for
residency and income verifica
tion: photocopies of (1) most
recent pay stub, (2) most recent
1040 form, & (3) proof of any
other income such as child sup
port, social security or disability
payments.

qualify for a Habitat house can

Development Authority to
meet on Tuesday, not Wed.
The Development Authority of
Monroe County will meet at 4:30
p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14,
instead of its usual Tuesday
meeting. The authority meets in
Alderman Hall at the Welcome
Center.

Daley Sun Shack!
Girlfriendz
The chamber of commerce’s
next Business After Hours is set
for 5:30-7 p.m. on Thursday Jan.
15 at the Daley Sun
Shack/Girlfriendz across from
the court house.
Jan. 19
Martin Luther King Jr.
Day celebration and
memorial march
The MLK March committee is
making plans for a historic event
on Monday, Jan. 19. The celebra
tion begins at 8 a.m. with break
fast at Kynette United Methodist
Church. The annual memorial
march will begin at 12 noon on
Jackson Street at the courthouse
square. The march will travel to
Main Street and turn right. The
marchers will then turn left on
MLK Blvd. and end at Kynette
UMC.
The program will continue at
Kynette UMC. The special guest
speaker will be the Rev. Willie
Reid, senior pastor of Fellowship
Baptist Church of Warner
Robins. The program this year is
dedicated to the memory of Earl
Stephens, march route chairper
son. Everyone is invited.

Relay for Life
k ickoff celebration
The Monroe County Relay for
Life kickoff celebration will be
held Jan. 20 from 6:30 - 7 p.m. at
Forsyth United Methodist

Chamber’s annual
dinner slated
The Forsyth-Monroe County
Chamber of Commerce will hold
its annual dinner Jan. 22 at 6
p.m. The event will be hosted at
the Central Georgia Convention
Complex in Forsyth. The
Chamber has lined up a very
exciting and dynamic guest
speaker, Chuck Ewart. Several
awards of distinction will be pre
sented as well.

Author night at the
Taylor House
Forsyth's Taylor House is pre
senting "Curl Up With a Good
Book", an evening of entertain
ment with presentations by
Monroe's local authors at 6 p.m.
Jan. 23 at the Taylor House. The
presentations will include chil
dren's author, Karen Cromer,
memoir and mystery writer Anne
Jones, inspirational fiction
author Kelli Bowden, nature-
memoir writer Niki Collins-
Queen, fiction authors Frances
Davis and Misty Lott and short
story writer and novelist Buzz
Tanner.
This cozy winter evening will
also include a homemade soup
supper with bread and dessert.
Tickets are $10 each (includes
meal). Reservations are limited.

SE flower show
Join the Master Gardeners of
Central Georgia on their bus to
the Southeastern Flower Show in
Atlanta on Thursday, Jan. 29.
The cost, including admission,
bus and snacks, is $28. The bus
will leave Centerville Galleria at
7:30 am, Macon State College at
8 am and Ingles in Forsyth at
8:30 am, returning from the Cobb
Galleria Center late that after

Middle Georgia teacher
recruitment day
A teacher recruitment day will
be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on
Saturday, Jan. 31 at Westside
High School in Macon. School
systems from Bibb, Crawford,
Jones, Monroe, Peach and Twiggs
counties will have representa
tives there and will be interview
ing new teachers for the 2009-10
school year. All interested and
qualified persons are invited to
attend.

baby girl, Brooklyn Scarlett
Sosebee, at 2:57 p.m. on
Wednesday, December 17,
2008 at the Coliseum
Medical Center in Macon.
She weighed 7 pounds, 13
ounces and was 20 inches
long.
Her grandparents are
Roydean and Janette
Sosebee, Trey and Paige
Herring and Debbie Herring, all of Forsyth. Brooklyn
was welcomed home by her two big brothers, Cody and
Chance.
Precious Leonazshia Dumas
Wanda Denise Hill and Leon Dumas of Forsyth
announce the birth of their baby girl, Precious
Leonazshia Dumas, at 12:32 p.m. on Thursday, December
11, 2008 at the Coliseum Medical Center in Macon. She
weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces and was 20 inches long.
Her maternal grandparents are Patricia Cofer and
Harvey Cofer III. Her paternal grandparents are Robert
Dumas and the late Precious Dumas. She was welcomed
home by her big brothers Raymond Hicks and Keon
Dumas and her big sister Daneisha Hill.

rently receiving electric

employee or director and
have been accepted to or
are currently enrolled in
an accredited undergradu
ate degree program within
the state of Georgia, you
are eligible for considera
tion. Southern Rivers
Energy will submit one
application from the coop
erative’s service territory
for the statewide scholar
ship program.

$1000 scholarship is
awarded to students who
excel in the areas of GPA,
SAT scores, academic

Coweta, Crawford, Lamar,
Pike, Meriwether, Monroe,
Spalding and Upson.
