Milam: Glover shooter
to be indicted in May
BY GINA HERRING
District Attorney
Richard Milam says the
Aug. 10 shooting of
Zapareo Glover is his top
Monroe County case and
he has been working
nonstop to put away the
people responsible for
paralyzing the former
MP football player with a
bullet.
For almost six months,
Milam says his office has
been gathering informa
tion from five different
law enforcement agen
cies, including the GBI.
Milam says he expects to
present the case to the
grand jury by May.
Joshua Dupree
Rounsoville, 20, of
Eatonton was arrested
Aug. 29 and charged
with aggravated assault
and armed robbery for
shooting Glover and
stealing his Chevy
Caprice Classic on Aug.
10 in the Dairy Queen
parking lot.
“The task force did a
jam-up job in this inves-
tiation,” said Milam.
“They got the right
guys.”
Two other Eatonton
men were also charged
as accomplices. Stewart
Calvert Brannon and
Robert Elon Burke were
charged with aggravated
assault and armed rob
bery as accomplices in
the Forsyth shooting and
remain in the Monroe
County jail.
Milam and several
member sof the taks
force, including the GBI,
met in January to go
over the case.
Milam says he has
already gathered an
overwhelming amount of
evidence and hopes to
have the defendants
indicted by May.
Rounsoville is currently
in jail in Houston
County, also charged
with felony murder and
felony armed robbery for
the death of 25-year-old
Mario Maurice Smith of
Warner Robins. Smith’s
body was found in a
Warner Robins storage
bin where he had kept
his red 1987 Chevrolet
Monte Carlo, which was
stolen in the incident.
Since the Houston
County case is a death
penalty case, Milam says
it is likely that it will
take longer to prepare
and that he believes
Rounsoville will go on
trial for the Glover shoot
ing first.
Milam says he and
Houston County District
Attorney Kelly Burke are
sharing information, but
says no matter what
happens in the Warner
Robins case, Milam plans
to prosecute Rounsoville
for shooting Glover.
Meanwhile, there are
two fundraisers planned
for Zapareo Glover.
One you can help
Zapareo Glover get back
on the road again.
Although paralyzed from
a bullet wound, Zapareo
Glover is learning to live
an independent life. Now
he is looking forward to
driving again. It will
costs $1,116 to install
Glover’s Impala with
hand controls. By donat
ing just $1 the next time
you stop by Monroe
County Bank, you can
help give back what the
shooter thought he stole
from Glover — his inde
pendence. Once the exact
amount has been raised,
Monroe County Bank
will send a check directly
to the company and
Glover’s car will be
equipped with the appro
priate hand controls.
Also, if you’re looking
for a bargain in tough
times or need a place for
all the stuff you can no
longer use. there’s a com
munity yard sale
planned for Saturday,
April 4 to benefit Glover.
The yard sale will be
held in the parking lot of
Spin Cycle, behind Magic
Touch Car wash in
Forsyth. To volunteer or
for more information call
Karen at 478-808-0299.
A planning meeting will
be held later this month.
