produced in London
under the title "Gaslight"
and filmed twice. The box
office is open 4 to 6 p.m.
this week and will be
open two hours prior to
the shows. Ticket prices:
$12 adults, $10 senior
adults and $8 students.

“Kids First, Safety First”
free safety day at 11 a.m.

MPHS class of
1984 to meet
The MPHS class of
1984 will meet
Saturday, Feb. 21 at
Davis joins Allstate
DAVIS
Greg Davis of Forsyth has
joined Jane Pennington-Allstate
Insurance.
Davis, 28, started working
with Allstate in October.
Previously he had worked with
Dodd Builders Supply.
Davis comes to insurance nat
urally. His mother, Donna
Davis, is a long-time insurance
agent in Forsyth. He said he's
loving being in the insurance
business.
Jane Pennington said Davis is
an excellent addition who is
already helping serve a lot of
the insurance needs of Monroe
County.
Davis and his wife Julia have
a five-year-old son, Lane.
Greg is the son of Cole and
Donna Davis and is a graduate
of Monroe Academy.
Lawrence recognized at
Mayors Day conference
During the Georgia
Municipal Association's
(GMA) Annual Mayors'
Day Conference in Atlanta
on Jan. 25, Forsyth council
member Melvin Lawrence
received the prestigious
Certificate of Excellence
from the Georgia
Municipal Training
Institute and was recog
nized for participating in
the annual Robert E. Knox
Leadership Institute for
Elected Officials.
The Georgia Municipal
Training Institute, a coop
erative effort of GEMA and
the University of Georgia's
Carl Vinson Institute of
Government, provides a
nationally recognized
series of training opportu
nities for elected city offi
cials. To receive a
Certificate of Excellence, a
city official must complete
a minimum of 120 units of
credit. The training pro
gram consists of a series of
24 six-unit courses.
Lawrence was one of 19
city officials to receive this
certificate at the Mayors'
Day Conference.
The three-day Leadership
Institute, co-sponsored by
GMA and the University of
Georgia's Carl Vinson
Institute of Government,
featured several nationally
recognized training devel
opment consultants and
speakers. Participants also
engaged in role-playing
exercises designed to culti
vate and enhance leader
ship skills.
"This is an outstanding
achievement," said GMA
Executive Director Jim
Higdon. "We commend
council member Lawrence
for his accomplishment
and for the dedication he's
shown in using this valu
able resource to become
more effective by city offi
cial."
