T.G. Scott: 286 meet AR goal
T.G. Scott Elementary School held its first Accelerated Reader Celebration on Nov. 5.
There were 286 TGS students who met their AR goal. Students enjoyed a sociable lunch
with friends. Tables were decorated with blue table cloths and music played throughout
lunch. Students enjoyed an ice cream for their desert. Students had their names placed
on the AR wall in the cafeteria so they could see their names as they move pass the
lunchroom throughout the day.
Kindergateners visit Dauset Trails
Mrs. Holt's kindergarten class recently visited Dauset Trails. They saw a variety of ani
mals from a cougar, black bear and a very large turkey that was less than two feet away
from them. They saw a few farm animals, fed the fish and walked through the woods on
the stepping stones. They also posed for a picture on the wooden alligator in the reptile
house.

Save the
turkeys
First grader Brianna Roun
tree, above, penned this per
suasive poem to help save a
few turkeys this Thanksgiving:
My name is Tommy Turkey.
You don't want to eat me.
I've been eating worms!
I am too old and skinny and I
have grandchildren!
Just eat some tater tots.
Hubbard fifth graders dive into 4-H

Buice in Mrs. Hall’s
5th grade class
All the 5th graders at
Hubbard Elementary
School participate in 4-
H. It is a club meeting
that we have in our
classroom each month.
Ms. Abbie Bunn is our
4-H Program Leader.
She does an outstanding
job. Each class elected
officers at the beginning
of year, and they help
her lead each meeting.
Our meetings begin
with our class reciting
the 4-H pledge: I pledge
my head to clearer
thinking, my heart to
greater loyalty, my
hands to greater service
and my health to better
living.
This month we did
several activities in our
meeting. We began by
learning the nutritional
value of things we
drink. We tasted a drink
made with orange juice
and lemon lime soda,
and we compared it to
soft drinks. We discov
ered that the fruit drink
was much healthier.
Then, we learned about
DPA which is a 4-H
project demonstration
contest. It is a great way
to teach someone about
something we have
learned. It will help us
to research a project,
organize our ideas in
logical order and
express ourselves to oth
ers. On the back of our
“Friends” booklet that
we receive each month
from Ms. Abbie; it actu
ally list the state stan
dards that relate to
what we are learning
through 4-H.
We thank everyone
involved in 4-H for mak
ing this program possi
ble for us each month.
In the upcoming meet
ings, we look forward to
learning new things
that will help us to grow
and succeed to our full
potential.
