Donnie Keadle is
Father of the Year
The Monroe County Father of
the Year for 2011 is Donnie
Keadle of Forsyth. Keadle was
nominated by his wife, Debbie,
his daughter, Brandy, and son
Chad. Brandy recalled the
time her father, a retired state
trooper, walked her through
repairing her air conditioner
when she lived in Texas as an
example of his helpfulness and
love. Keadle will receive a $100
gift card to Walmart. See more
nominations on page 8A.

Fine, community service after guilty DUIplea
BY WILL DAVIS
Monroe County chief magistrate
judge Jeff Davis choked back tears
as he admitted to violating the
public trust by drinking and driv
ing on June 3, pleading guilty to
DUI in Bibb County State Court
on Friday.
Davis, 41, was sentenced to 40
hours of community service, fined
$800 and ordered to spend a day
in jail after his plea, which came
less than a week after he was
arrested at a Hwy. 87 checkpoint
near the Bibb-Monroe line.
Following his court appearance,
Davis held a press conference at
the office of his attorney, Dustin
Buttigieg, where he said he takes
full responsibility for his DUI
and accepts a regular sentence
like any other citizen. In addition
to his fine, Davis said he’ll spend
another $2,000 on DUI school.
Davis said he decided to waive
a trial and not to fight the
charges because he
made a poor
decision.
