Carmen Adams and Ryan Hynko

Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Adams of Forsyth are happy to
announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss
Carmen Adams to Mr. Ryan Hynko of Stilson, Ga. Ryan
is the son of Mr. Mark Hynko of Stilson and Ms. Lorna
Hynko of Statesboro. Carmen is the granddaughter of
Elder and Mrs. Parker Sye of Forsyth and the late Mr.
and Mrs. J. B. Adams of Forsyth. Ryan is the grandson
of Mrs. Nettie Glisson of Eldora and the late Mr.
Freddie Glisson, Mrs. Ann Hynko of Stilson and the late
Mr. Gerald Hynko.
The future bride is currently enrolled in the Early
Childhood Education Program at the University of
Georgia. The future groom graduated from the
University of Georgia in May with a degree in
Landscape Architecture from the College of
Environment & Design.
The couple's wedding will take place at the Ramah
Primitive Baptist Church July 23, 2011 in Barnesville
with a reception to follow.
Amber Danielle Sawley and Cameron Luke Joyner

Cliff and Kim Sawley of Forsyth announce the
engagement of their daughter Amber Danielle Sawley
to Cameron Luke Joyner, son of Wayne and Belinda
Joyner of Lyons.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Wayne and
Glenda Fleming and the late Howard Sawley and
Gwen Baird. Amber is a summer intern at New
Providence Baptist Church. She is a 2009 graduate of
Mary Persons High School and a 2011 graduate of
Young Harris College, where she completed her
degree in science. She will be attending Georgia
Southern University in the fall.
The groom-elect is the grandson of Eugene and
Deane Joyner and the late James Grimes and Betty
Grimes. Cameron works part-time with Joyner
Construction and Fastenal, a distributor for industri
al products. He is a 2004 graduate of Toombs County
High School and a 2010 graduate of East Georgia
College, where he completed his Associate's Degree in
general studies. He is a former petty officer third
class in the U.S. Navy during which time he was a
Sonar technician and a WSS team member. He will
be attending Georgia Southern University in the fall.
The couple will be married on Aug. 13, 2011 in a
small family beach wedding at Cape San Bias, Fla.
Pastor Brian Moore of New Providence Baptist
Church will officiate the ceremony.
After honeymooning in New Smyrna Beach, Fla.,
the couple will live in Statesboro.
At the Confederate Memorial Day Served in May, two Crosses
of Military Service medals and two National Defense Medals
were presented to four men. Cabaniss Chapter No. 415, UDC
annually bestows these awards to veterans who have served
honorable in the armed services and who have a qualifying
confederate veteran. Those receiving the medals were James
D. Jackson, US Navy, Vietnam National Defense Medal; Dr.
Grover F. Tyner, Jr., US Army, WWII Cross of Military Service; Ernest Ralph Bass, Jr. US Navy, WWII Cross of Military Service;
John G. Thompson, US Air Force, Vietnam National Defense Medal.

celebrated 32
years of service to
the Monroe County
School System. A
retirement celebra
tion was held in her
honor on June 4,
2011. The event
was highlighted by
guest speaker,
Georgia Teacher of
the Year Mr. Jadun McCarthy, Juris Doctorate. In addi
tion to Mr. McCarthy several family members, former
co-workers, students, and members of Dr. Campbell’s
church family (Beulahland Bible Church) attended to
wish her well in her retirement.
City replaces
Davis with
Judge Pitman
Forsyth city council voted
unanimously at a specially-
called meeting Wednesday
to name Monroe County pro
bate judge Karen Pitman as
the city's Municipal Court
first appearance judge. The
position was vacated on
June 7 when council voted
to accept former Municipal
Court judge Jeff Davis,
who’s also the county magis
trate judge, resigned after
he was charged with a DUI
on June 5. Pitman, who is
also the city's election super
visor, will fill in as first
appearance judge until the
city can choose a permanent
replacement.

serve on the Board of
Governors of the 42,000
member State Bar of
Georgia.
Jenkins will represent the
Towaliga Judicial Circuit
which is composed of
Monroe, Lamar and Butts
Counties.
Jenkins graduated from
Walter F. George Law
School at Mercer
University and was admit
ted to the State Bar of
Georgia in 1992. Jenkins
previously served in the
Georgia House of
Representatives for 16
years, representing Monroe
County form 1989-2004. In
the House, he served as
chairman of the Special
Judiciary Committee and
as a member of the Georgia
Code Revision Commission.
