CARD OF THANKS
I would like to express my appreciation
for the Monroe County Emergency
Services and the City of Forsyth Police
Department.
My wife, Nancy, and daughter, Wendy,
were involved in a traffic accident
Saturday, June 18. They were treated
with the utmost caution and care.
Forsythians are indeed fortunate to have
such courteous, well-trained people who
respond in such a professional manner.
Tom Brunson
Tabernacle to discuss
creation vs. evolution
BY EVELYN TRIMBLE
Ever felt confused listen
ing to the "Creation vs
Evolution" debate? Or
wondered how "scientific
evidence" can support an
ancient earth evolving
over millions of years,
while the Bible declares
that God handled it in six
days? And what about the
accuracy of those "fossil
records", and where did
they come from anyway?
If any of these thoughts
have troubled you (or just
intrigued you), help is on
the way.
On Sunday, July 10 at
Tabernacle Baptist Church
(6611 Zebulon Rd.,
Macon), a world-renowned
scientist will share the
basis for his belief in cre
ation as recorded in the
Bible. At 10 a.m. and
again at 6:30 p.m., Dr.
Kurt P. Wise will be speak
ing.
A native of Illinois and
graduate of the University
of Chicago, he also holds
both a M.A. and a Ph.D. in
geology from Harvard
University. From 1982-
1986 Dr. Wise was also a
Teaching Fellow at
Harvard. From 1989-2006
he was Director at the
Center of Origins
Research at Bryan College
in Dayton, TN. He then
served for three years as
Professor of Science and
Theology at Southern
Baptist Theological
Seminary in Louisville,
KY. Since 2009 he has
been on the staff of Truett-
McConnell College in
Cleveland, GA, serving as
Professor of Natural
Science and as Director of
the College's Center for
Creation Research.
In addition to his aca
demic achievements, Dr.
Wise has been widely pub
lished in technical and sci
entific journals, magazine
articles, internet forums
and videos, including the
"Genesis" videos for Kay
Arthur's Precept Bible
Study series. He has been
interviewed for television
a number of times, and
some of his tapes on
"Origins" continue to be
aired on Christian sta
tions.
Dr. David Hunter, Senior
Pastor of Tabernacle,
states, "We feel extremely
fortunate to have a scien
tist of Dr. Wise's stature to
speak at our Church. This
is a rare opportunity,
which we want to share
with the entire Middle
Georgia community,
believers and honest seek
ers alike. We welcome any
guests who can visit with
us at both services on July
10. It is vital for
Christians to learn how to
defend our faith with sci
entific facts, and for seek
ers to hear how those facts
support the Biblical
account in amazing ways.
Dr. Kurt Wise is eminently
qualified to guide us in
that endeavor." For fur
ther information, call the
Church office at (478) 476-
3507.
