Elsie Lee Jones, 99, died Friday, June 10, 2011.
Services were June 18, 2011 at the Piney Grove Baptist
Church. Burial was in the Forsyth City Cemetery.
Survivors include children, Mary Alice (Willie) Wright,
Ulysee G. Jones of Forsyth, William (Chalie) Zellner
and Freddie Jones of Clearwater, Fla.; sister, Leila
Ponder of Forsyth; brother, Tommy (Mariona) Alford
of Miami, Fla.; a devoted nephew, Leanard (Peggy)
Buckner of Forsyth; 23 grandchildren, 28 great grand
children and 12 great great grandchildren, a host
of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Freeman Funeral Home of Forsyth was in charge.
Helen Louise Fagan
Helen Louise Fagan died Monday, June
20, 2011. Services were held Saturday,
June 25, 2011 at New Macedonia Baptist
Church with burial in the church cem
etery. She leaves behind children, Jamar
and Ashley Fagan; mother, Vesterine
(Issac) Holmes; three sisters; special
uncle, Marvin White; three other uncles, a
host of aunts, other relatives; grandfather,
Abert Cheney. Freeman Funeral Home of Forsyth was
in charge.
Carolyn Denise Pennington
Carolyn Denise Pennington, 40, died Friday, June
17, 2011. Services were held June 22 at Oak Grove
Holiness Church. Burial in Forsyth City Cemetery.
Survivors include mother, Diane Pennington High;
two children, Corderius Pennington and Dontavious
Pennington, both of Forsyth, and a host of aunts,
nieces, nephews and friends. Freeman Funeral Home of
Forsyth was in charge.
Willie Pearl Zellner
Willie Pearl Zellner, 80, died Friday, June 17, 2011.
Services were held Sunday, June 26 at Freeman
Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was private. Survivors
include children, Terry Zellner of Miami, Fla. and
Frederick Zellner of Forsyth; four grandchildren, 10
great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren,
a host of other relatives. Freeman Funeral Home of
Forsyth was in charge.
Susie Maud Watkins
Susie Maud Watkins, 73, died June 27, 2011. Services
were Thursday, June 30, 2011 at ML Gilead Baptist
Church Cemetery. Survivors include children, Willie
M. Watkins, Arlicha W. Perkins, Lorenzo G. Watkins,
Ame D. Watkins of Forsyth, Lynda L. Zachery of Rex,
Allen D. Watkins of Macon, and Terry B. Watkins of
McDonough, and a host of other relatives. Freeman
Funeral Home of Forsyth was in charge.

Mrs. Marcia Sharon Allen Edwards, age 65, of 11749
County Rd. 49, Heflin, AL, passed away June 24, 2011.
Mrs. Edwards was born October 5, 1945 in Forsyth to the
late W.C. and Vassie Williams Allen.
Sharon Allen Edwards grew up in Forsyth and after
completing high school she graduated Georgia Southern
University, Statesboro. She completed her MS and Ed.S
degrees from Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville,
AL in 1988 and 1989. In her teen years through Baptist
Girls Auxiliary achieved Queen Regent with Scepter.
In 1966 she began her teaching career and taught in
Ringgold, Atlanta and the final twenty years at West
Haralson Elementary School, Tallapoosa, retiring in
2006. She met the love of her life in 1984 and in 1986
she and her children, Tara and Brandon, married Jim
and they made their home in Ranburne, Al. In 1987, Jim
and Sharon’s love produced Blake. In 1989 they moved to
Heflin, Al where Sharon made her home the center of her
family’s life. Sharon was a gifted teacher, interior deco
rator, friend, mother, grandmother and wife. She loved
the Lord and never hesitated to share the story of her
journey and lift up others by sharing her Faith. Sharon’s
family and friends would describe her as lively, loyal and
fierce in defense of her children and grandchildren, fam
ily and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Jim
Edwards of Heflin; daughter and son-in-law, Tara and
Joey Morgan of Muscadine, AL; sons, Brandon Wilder
of Little Rock, AR, and Blake Edwards of Heflin; grand
children, Hunter Couch and Brody Morgan; and brother,
Wiley C. Allen of Forsyth.
A Celebration of Sharon’s life will be held Saturday,
July 9, 2011 at 1 p.m. EST from her home at 11749
County Rd. 49, Heflin, AL 36264.
Seaborn Derrill Shaw of Forsyth died Wednesday,
June 29, 2011. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m.,
Saturday, July 2, 2011, at Forsyth City Cemetery. The
Reverend Franklin Etheridge officiated.
Mr. Shaw, the son of the late Seaborn Gaines and Mary
Ruth Moon Shaw, was born June 2, 1942, in Forsyth,
Georgia. His brother, Larry Thomas Shaw and his
grandson, Joshua Shaw preceded him in death. Mr.
Shaw was previously employed with E. W. Banks, Bibb
Company until its closing and Woodmen of the World.
He graduated from Mary Persons High School in 1960
and was a veteran of the Army Georgia National Guard,
48th Infantry Brigade.
Survivors include his children, Clay (Dee Dee) Shaw
of Forsyth, Chris (Kelly) Shaw of Jacksonville, Fla., and
Cale (Debbie) Shaw of Bastrop, Texas, brother, Joseph
Harold Shaw of Forsyth, 15 grandchildren and two great
grandchildren,

Georgia.
