Incidents
Man threatens to
burn down home
in voice message
A 29-year-old white
Forsyth man was arrested
and charged with making
terroristic threats after he
left a voice message
threatening to burn down
another man's home.
According to the incident
report, at about 11:45 p.m.
on July 3, Dep. Kevin
Powell went to the lobby of
the Monroe County Jail in
reference to terroristic
threats. Powell met with a
Forsyth man who said
another Forsyth man had
left a voice mail on his
phone saying he was going
to burn his house down
while he was in it. Powell
asked the man what had
happened to cause these
threats, and he said the
man who threatened him
is his ex-girlfriend's
nephew. He said he had
accused his ex-girlfriend of
stealing some items from
his home when they sepa
rated. Powell went to a
Boxankle Road home
where he met with the
other man. The other man
would not tell Powell what
the issue was between the
two men or why he left the
message on the man's
phone.
Man says woman
stole his money,
attended church
A man told a deputy he
suspects his girlfriend
stole money from his wal
let. According to the inci
dent report, at about 9:30
p.m. on July 3, Dep. Kevin
Powell went to a Mize
Street home in reference
to a theft. Powell met with
a man who said someone
had taken $83 in cash out
of his wallet. The man said
when he returned home
from the store he changed

County Sheriff’s Department
June 30-July 7. The arrest
means someone has been
charged with a crime, but the
law considers them innocent
until proven guilty.

room. He said when he
went to go get gas he
opened his wallet and
found his money was miss
ing. The man said he
thinks his girlfriend,
whom he had been arguing
with earlier in the day,
took the money before she
left to get her son to
attend a concert at
Rocksprings Church.
Powell was unable to
make contact with the girl
friend. He advised the
man to contact the
Magistrate Court about
getting a warrant hearing.
Oak Grove Baptist
burglarized again
A Forsyth church was
broken into for the third
time in three months on
July 3. According to the
incident report, at about
1:37 a.m. on July 3, Dep.
King and Sgt. Randy
Grindstaff went to Oak
Grove Baptist Church on
Zellner Road in reference
to an alarm going off. King
and Grindstaff arrived to
find the side door of the
church forced off the
hinges and laying in the
floor. The door appeared to
be kicked in by two sub
jects, one wearing size 13
shoes or possibly boots.
The deputies also found
that one of the office doors
had been kicked in, and
that the monitoring sys
tem for the alarm system
had been taken. Another
video monitor showed the
suspect jerking at the
wiring system and after
removing the wires, leav
ing the building. The sus
pect is a white male with
dark colored hair and a
beard. He was wearing a
jacket with a hoodie and
hat. A video camera was
also broken at the door
that was entered. The last
time it was burglarized

Woman discovers
bank account
was accessed
According to an incident
report, at about 1:11 p.m.
on July 2, Cpl. Richard
Coughenour went to a
Ponder Trammell Road
home in reference to fraud.
The female resident said
that a man and woman
had gained access to two of
her accounts, one with
Robins Federal Credit
Union and the other with
MetLife. According to the
report, the man and
woman gained access to
her account using her
debit card number and
removed checks from her
check book. The woman
has left the area and is
possible living in the
Dallas, Texas area. The
man is housed at the Bibb
County Jail. The transac
tions ranged from $80 to
$4,700.
Missing Trading
Post delivery man
has been located
According to an incident
report, at about 6:42 p.m.
on July 1, Cpl. Johnson
went to the Trading Post
at Hwy. 41 South in refer
ence to a vehicle theft.
Johnson met with a
Trading Post employee
who said one of his trucks
and a delivery driver are
missing. The employee
said the driver was sup
posed to make a delivery
stop in Columbus on June
30, but has not been seen
or heard from since. The
employee said he last
spoke to the driver around
7 a.m. on June 30 and that
the driver said he was en
route to Columbus. The
employee said he called
the place in Columbus,
and they said he had not
made it yet. The employee
said he called the driver's
girlfriend, and she said
she hadn't heard from him
in a couple of days. The
delivery truck is a four-
door crew cab 2004
Freightliner M-2. It has a
white cab and a yellow van
body with TP trading post
on the side. It has Georgia
tag number IC837D. The
vehicle was reported
stolen. The driver has
since returned, according
to a source at the Trading
Post.
Woman gets DUI
on way home from
Braves game
A 29-year-old white
Columbus woman was
charged with DUI after
she wrecked her minivan
on 1-75 South while head
ed home from a Braves
game on July 6. According
to the incident report, at
about 11:50 p.m., the
woman was traveling with
a seven-year-old girl and a
nine-year-old boy when
she hit a patch of water in
the far left lane of 1-75
South causing her to
strike the center wall
before coming to a stop at
the guard rail. Cpl. E.
Johnson responded to the
call and asked the woman
if she was okay, to which
she responded she was
not. Johnson noticed a
strong odor of alcohol on
her breath and told the
woman that EMS was on
the way. After EMS
arrived and assessed the
woman and the children,
Johnson asked her to blow
into the alco-sensor. The
woman confessed to hav
ing four beers at the game
and tested positive for con
suming alcohol. According
to the report, her eyes
were red, and her speech
was slurred. The woman
was placed in the ambu
lance and agreed to a
blood test. The woman and
the two children were
taken to the Medical
Center of Central Georgia
with non life-threatening
injuries.
