grant to fund the First
Responder course that was held
from Aug. 30 to Oct. 6.
Participants attended classes for
four hours, from 6-10 p.m., each

Incidents
Man throws up
during traffic stop
A 25-year-old black
Antioch, Tenn. man was
arrested and charged with a
window tint violation, driv
ing while license suspended
and possession of illegal
drugs after a traffic stop on
1-75 North on Sept. 28.
According to the incident
report, at about 8:46 a.m.,
Dep. Chad Beck saw a
Chevrolet Malibu with dark
window tint on 1-75 North.
When the car's driver saw
Beck approaching, he got
over into the slow lane in
front of a tractor-trailer
causing him to slam on the
brakes. He then exited off of
the interstate. Beck stopped
the car on the exit ramp,
and the driver appeared to
be very nervous. Beck asked
the driver for his license,
but the driver said he did
not have one that was sus
pended. The driver said he
did have a debit card with
his name and picture on it.
The driver's license came
back suspended out of
Tennessee. The driver said
he and his passengers were
coming from Florida, where
they had been for a day. The
driver was arrested for driv
ing while license suspended.
After he was placed in
handcuffs, the driver
became sick and vomited on
the side of the road. Officer
Thomas "C.J."
Czemiejewski of the Forsyth
Police Department assisted
with the stop. Beck saw
Czemiejewski pull out a
female passenger and hand
cuff her. Beck asked him
why he did so, and he said it
was because he thought he
had seen marijuana in the
car. The driver then yelled
out that he had a blunt in
the car. During a search of
the car, the officers found a
half-burnt suspected mari
juana cigarette in the ash
tray.
County school bus
hits electric truck
A Monroe County school
bus was involved in a two-
car accident on Klopfer
Road on Sept. 29. According
to the incident report, at
about 7:15 a.m., a female
Monroe County Schools bus
driver told Dep. Richard
Coughenour she was pulling
her 2007 Freightliner Bus
onto Klopfer Road from Old
Popes Ferry Road and did
not see a white 2008
Chevrolet Silverado owned
by Starr Electric Company.
The male driver of the
Silverado said he could not
avoid making contact with
the rear of the school bus.
No one was injured in the
accident.
Woman drives off
during traffic stop
Warrants are pending on a
25-year-old black Macon
woman for three counts of
reckless conduct, escape and
fleeing and attempting to
elude after she fled from a
deputy during a traffic stop
on 1-75 South on Sept. 28.
According to the incident
report, at about 7:09 p.m.,
Dep. Daniel Ruiz stopped a
gray 2011 Volkswagen Jetta
with a Thomas Dealer
Group driveout tag on it on
1-75 South traveling 84 mph
in a 65 mph zone. The
female driver had two small
children in the back seat of
the car. The driver handed
Ruiz an ID card along with
the rental agreement for the
car. Dispatchers told Ruiz
the driver's license was sus
pended for failure to appear
in Bibb County. There was
also a warrant out on the
driver from Bibb County.
Ruiz told the driver she had
the option to call someone to
come pick up her children
and the car. The driver said
she did not have anyone
that could come, so Ruiz
said he had no choice but to
call Department of Family
and Children Services to get
the children. Ruiz asked the
driver to sit in the car with
her kids so they were not
alone while they waited for
DFCS and a tow truck. As
Ruiz was telling dispatchers
to call the two services, he
saw brake lights come on
from the driver's car. He
then saw the driver pull out
quickly onto 1-75 South.
Ruiz then chased after the
car, which was reaching
speeds over 100 mph.
Because the children were
in the car, Ruiz stopped the
chase after three miles. He
then notified the Bibb
County Sheriffs Office
about the car. Bibb County
took the driver into custody
later the same night. The
driver will also receive tick
ets for speeding, driving
while license suspended and
aggressive driving.
Man charged with
stalking neighbor
A 33-year-old white
Jackson man was arrested
and charged with criminal
trespass and stalking on
Oct. 1 after his neighbor
accused him of being in her
home uninvited numerous
times in recent weeks.
According to the incident
report, at about 6:15 p.m. on
Oct. 1, Sgt. Todd Haskins
went to a Towaliga South
Road home in reference to
trespassing. Haskins met
with a female resident who
said her male neighbor had
been over to her house sev
eral times earlier that day.
The neighbor has been
advised on numerous occa
sions to stay away from her
home and was even arrested
for disorderly conduct for
being on the property less
than two weeks prior. When
Haskins arrived, the neigh
bor was not home. Haskins
came back a second time the
same night at about 10:38
p.m. after the resident
called saying the neighbor
was trying to get into her
home. The resident said her
neighbor's wife left him, and
he believes his estranged
wife is staying at the resi
dent's home. She said she
has told him repeatedly that
his wife is not at her home.
The resident said when she
returned home she noticed
that the shower in the bath
room was still wet. She said
she suspects that her neigh
bor had come into her home
and taken a shower while
she was gone. She said he
returned later and tried to
enter the home while she
was in bed. Haskins found
the neighbor standing in his
yard. The neighbor denied
going to the resident's home.
He then said the resident's
roommate told him he could
shower at the home. The
resident said no one was
staying at the home with
her.
Car left abandoned
by DUI suspect
A 54-year-old black
Forsyth man was arrested
and charged with DUI after
he abandoned his car on
Teagle Road on Sept. 30. At
about 12:20 a.m., Sgt.
Randy Grindstaff went to
Teagle Road in reference to
a suspicious vehicle parked
beside a home. When
Grindstaff arrived, he found
an unoccupied green
Chevrolet Celebrity car
parked on the side of the
road. The car was registered
to a male Weldon Road resi
dent. Grindstaff located sev
eral empty beer bottles and
cans in the passenger side
floorboard and discovered
the car had just been recent
ly parked because the motor
was still hot. The female 9-
1-1 caller told dispatchers
she had gone to bed about
11:30 p.m., and the car was
not there at the time. The
caller said she discovered it
there around midnight
when she got up to see why
her dogs were barking.
Grindstaff then searched
the immediate area and
found a black male walking
north on Teagle Road about
one mile from the aban
doned car. Grindstaff recog
nized the man and asked
him what he was doing. The
man said his car had broken
down. Grindstaff asked him
if his car was the one
parked on the side of the
road, and he said yes. The
man said the car had run
out of gas, and he had been
walking for about 30 to 35
minutes. Grindstaff smelled
an enormous odor of alcohol
on the man, so he asked him
if he had been drinking. The
man said he had a few
beers. Grindstaff had found
mostly Red Dog bottles in
the car, so he purposely
asked the man if he had
been drinking Bud Light
earlier. The man said, "No,
I've been drinking Red Dog."
The man then tested posi
tive for alcohol on the Alco-
Sensor and failed several
field sobriety tests. The man
then tested positive for alco
hol at the Monroe County
Jail.
Monroe deputies
locate DUI suspect
A 30-year-old Hispanic
Forsyth man was arrested
and charged with failure to
maintain lane, driving with
an expired license, fleeing
and attempting to elude and
DUI after he was stopped on
Hwy. 87 on Sept. 29.
According to the incident
report, at about 10 p.m.,
Sgt. Randy Grindstaff and
Dep. Chad Beck saw two
suspicious vehicles in front
of Bowdoin’s Grocery at the
intersection of Hwy. 87 and
Juliette Road. One of the
vehicles was a black Nissan
350Z car with a South
Carolina tag, and the other
was a green Ford Ranger
truck with a Georgia tag.
The deputies found both
vehicle owners sitting inside
of the truck drinking beer.
The deputies then told the
men they were too intoxicat
ed to drive, and that they
needed to call someone to
pick them up. The deputies
then left the scene due to a
call. When Beck passed
back by Bowdoin's Grocery,
he noticed the car was gone,
but the truck was still
parked there. Beck then
spotted the car, but the driv
er refused to stop until he
reached the parking lot of
the Best Buy convenience
store at the comer of Hwys.
87 and 83. The male driver
said he knew he shouldn't
have driven but said he
thought he could make it to
his High Falls home. The
driver then tested positive
for alcohol on the Alco-
Sensor. He also failed sever
al field sobriety tests. U.S.
Immigration and Customs
Enforcement placed a hold
on the driver.
Camera indicates
grill racks stolen
from restaurant
Five grill racks were
reported stolen from High
Falls Barbecue on Oct. 3.
According to the incident
report, at about 6:26 p.m.,
Dep. Daniel Ruiz went to
High Falls Barbecue on
High Falls Road in refer
ence to a burglary. The male
owner told Ruiz a man took
two grill racks from the
back of the restaurant on
Sept. 29. The owner said he
saw the man take two grill
racks on camera between 2
p.m. and 3 p.m. but said five
grill racks were actually
missing. The owner said he
did not want to press
charges, and that he just
wanted his grill racks back.
The man told Ruiz by phone
that he did take the grill
racks to see if they fit some
thing. The man said he told
a male bar employee that he
was going to take them. The
employee said the man had
mentioned something about
wanting to take them but
never said he was going to.
Ruiz asked the man to bring
the racks back and put
them back behind the
restaurant. The man said he
had already returned them.
He said he thought it would
be okay to take them
because he and the owner
are friends. Ruiz then asked
him he if took all five grill
racks, and the man said he
had only taken two that
were leaning against a
table. The owner said he did
not have evidence on tape
that the man returned the
racks. He said all five racks
were behind the building.
The grill racks are silver in
color and are 42-44 inches
long. They belong to a
Southern Pride smoker grill
and are valued at about
$125 each.
