A chance to help: Salvation
Army needs bell ringers
The Salvation Army is
looking for volunteers in
the Monroe County area to
ring the bell at our Super
Walmart on North Lee
Street during the
Christmas season. Please
contribute to one of the
greatest non-profit organi
zations in the world by vol
unteering for a day or just
a few hours to make a dif
ference in the community.
Volunteers are needed
each day, Monday through
Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 8
p.m., beginning Nov. 24
through Dec. 24.
Volunteers are asked to
work in two to four-hour
increments, and we wel
come church groups.

volunteer or help in some

Forsyth’s Hometown Holidays
parade is coming to town

The Forsyth Hometown
Holidays Parade, a bril
liant spectacle of lights
and music promenading
through Forsyth’s historic
commercial district, will be
Thursday, Nov. 29 at 7
p.m. The theme this year
is “Holidays in Toon Town.”
Participates are encour
aged to pick a cartoon and
decorate their float to rep
resent that cartoon in a
holiday setting. Be cre
ative; choose a cartoon, an
anime, or a cartoon movie.

see which cartoons have
already been taken. For an

Heritage Healthcare of Forsyth
premiers Christmas Village
Heritage Healthcare of
Forsyth is sponsoring the
premier of a Christmas
Village on the courtyard of
its Hwy. 83 location Dec.
4-30.
Local merchants, service
clubs and churches are
invited to participate in
this fund-raiser for the
elderly residents at
Heritage by setting up
their own booths in 10X15-
foot spaces in the village.
Local merchants can
expand their community
exposure, service clubs can
recruit new members and
churches can share the
gospel.
Each participant can cre
ate their own vignette,
their personal vision of
what Christmas means to
them. Heritage will pro
vide electricity to each
booth for $50. The Village
will be lighted from 6-10
p.m. and open for free to
the public. Money raised
for the event will go
directly to Heritage's Eden
alternative fund.
The deadline to register
is Nov. 30. Set up displays
on Dec. 1-2. A lighting cer
emony will be at 6:30 p.m.
on Monday, Dec. 3, and
judges will determine the
best booth.

Library invites to join in holiday fun
Your Monroe County
Library has planned a
special evening of holiday
happenings foradults and
children on Thursday,
Dec. 20 from 5:30-7:30
p.m.
There willl be holiday
jazz music for adults,
Christmas stories, crafts,
and songs for children,
and hot chocolate, cookies,
and candy canes for
everyone. A very merry
guest has promised to be
present for the event. For

Community pulls together
to help Sandy’s victims
Keith and Karen Harbuck and family
headed for the Northeast on Monday
with a trailer full of donated clothes and
supplies for those affected by superstore
Sandy. Donations poured in from all over
Central Georgia after the Harbucks put
out notice that they would take supplies
with them when they visited family in
Staten Island, N.Y. for Thanksgiving.
Teddy Sauls of Forsyth donated a trailer
they could use and clothes and supplies
came rolling in as well. The Harbucks
will pull the trailer behind their RV for
the long haul to New York. Among those
donating were The Sock Shoppe in
Griffin, Pediatria Healthcare for Kids,
Seth Harbuck, Levi Piper, Mr. Billy, the
Slocomb family, Kim Hamrick, Coni
Merritt, Teddy and Cindi Sauls, Miss
Patsy and the Rock Springs Choir,
Leighanne Bowen, The Mens Wednesday
Morning Prayer Group at Dairy Queen,
Rachel and Ronnie Daniel, Beth Chafin,
John Pitts and family, Jan Driskill,
Robbie and Lee McGee, Pace and Pace
