What will lawmakers do
in 2013? Tell them Dec. 3
It’s an annual holiday tradition and this year the chamber is
again hosting its Pre-Legislative Update in December. At
left, from last year’s edition, Rep. Susan Holmes, right, talks
with Christy Chewning of Central Georgia EMC. This year’s
update is set for Monday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. in Aldermen Hall.
The public is invited to come for hot cider and Christmas
treats and hear the county's legislative delegation preview
the 2013 session of the Georgia General Assembly, which
begins in January. Slated to attend the event are state Sen.
Cecil Staton and state Reps. Susan Holmes, Allen Peake
and Robert Dickey.
Monroe County Middle
students give thanks
What am I thankful for?
BYALEXARCHEY
How am I thankful?
Well, I’m a 7th grader at
Monroe County Middle
school on the campus of
Banks Stephens. I am
thankful for being able to
go to this wonderful
school, and I am really
lucky to be in the newspa
per club. The lunch staff
gives great lunches, which
I am really thankful for. I
have great teachers that
really try to help you
learn everything you need
to know to be successful.
Furthermore, I am thank
ful that my friends are
people that won’t backstab
me. I was able to join the
Pre-Advanced Placement
classes this year; this I am
truly thankful for. My Pre-
AP math teacher Mrs.
Rivers helps me under
stand and succeed better
than I ever have! For
these reasons, I am thank
ful! Happy Thanksgiving
Day!
What I am thankful for?
BY ZACHERY NEWMAN
It is that time of the year when turkeys go into hid
ing! It is also that time of year when you should reflect
on what makes you thankful. How am I thankful?
Well...I don’t know? It’s difficult. As an 8th grader in
Monroe County Middle School, I am thankful for a lot
of things. When the schools blended together, I hated it!
Now, I am thankful for the schools blending, because it
has given me a chance to make new friends. I am also
thankful for my teachers, especially the ones who I
actually like!
