Culloden
On Oct. 29, Georgia
Congressman Sanford
Bishop of the 2nd
Congressional District of
Georgia visited Flint
Cable Television to tour
its facilities and obtain an
update on the Flint
Digital Wave Stimulus
Project, which was sup
posed to help deliver
broadband to several
areas including Culloden.
The project is part of the
Broadband Initiatives
Program under the
American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act (aka
The Stimulus) to improve
the communications infra
structure across rural
America.
Flint Cable TV was
awarded a Flint Digital
Wave Project in a $4.1
million loan and a $4.1
million grant. The funding
was to provide a Hybrid
Fiber Coaxial (HFC) net
work to homes in under
served areas of Culloden,
Yatesville, and Friendship
Community in rural cen
tral Georgia. This HFC
network was to use the
latest DOCSIS 3.0 cable
standard, enabling chan
nel bonding and speeds up
to 100Mbps.
