Supervising Counsel
Position# 00122960
Minimum Qualifications: Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school
of law and membership in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia and
three years of experience providing guidance, consultation, or representation
in business, environmental, commercial or tax law.
Preferred Qualifications: Substantial experience in government or corporate
transactions, including extensive experience in negotiating agreements. Solid
computer skills including Microsoft Office. Experience managing other
attorneys and staff will be beneficial.
Job Duties:
• Reviews all contracts and agreements involving the Department, including
professional service agreements, inter-governmental contracts, and
consultant contracts.
• Efficiently drafts and reviews contracts and agreements affecting the
department.
• Negotiates and communicates with the Law Department, other agencies and
organizations, and/or departmental staff for purposes of resolving contract or
agreement matters.
• On behalf of the Department, develops and creates unique, original
agreements which reflect new initiatives and directives.
• Provides legal analysis of current law and its impact on the Department
concerning commercial, environmental, insurance, employment, and
regulatory matters.
• Drafts proposed state rules and regulations and departmental standard
operating procedures related to departmental business matters and presents
to Board of Corrections members and/or management staff when necessary.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of current legal decisions and laws relating
to the Department's business affairs.
• Manages contractual and commercial disputes brought by vendors and other
governmental agencies.
