MP Relay recycling cell phones
The Key Club and Beta
Club Relay for Life teams
at Mary Persons High
School will be recycling
cell phones as one of their
Relay fundraising projects.
Using the slogan, "Going
green to find a cure," the
students will be collecting
unwanted cell phones from
the community. They will
be paid from $1 to $40 for
them, depending on the
model of the phone. They
must have at least 50
phones in order to sell
them for recycling.
Tena Dominy, chair of
Relay For Life of Monroe
County, said the students
are still in the process of
setting up drop-off loca
tions for the phones, but
she wants to get out the
word about the project
before Christmas since it
is likely that many people
will be getting new phones
as Christmas presents.
Remember to save the old
phone for the Key Club
and Beta Club and let that
old phone play a part in
finding a cure for cancer.
Dominy said to contact
club sponsor Lauri English
at Mary Persons for more
