Ring the Salvation
Army bell
The Salvation Army is looking
for volunteers to ring the bell at
our Super Walmart on North
Lee Street during the Christmas
season. Please contribute to one
of the greatest non-profit organi
zations in the world by volun
teering for a day or just a few
hours to make a difference in
the community. Volunteers are
needed each day, Monday
through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to
8 p.m., beginning Nov. 24
through Dec. 24. Volunteers are
asked to work in two to four-
hour increments, and we wel
come church groups. Persons
who would like to volunteer or
help in some way may contact

Library offers
‘Fines for Cans’
This is your chance to clear out
the nagging guilt of those fines
owed for past-due library books
and start the New Year right
while helping someone less for
tunate at the same time. The
Monroe County Library is spon
soring a Fines for Cans cam
paign from Monday, Dec. 3 until
Thursday, Dec. 13. For every $1
or less in fines, bring in one
canned good or non-perishable
item. Fines up to $10 will be for
given. The food items will be
donated to the local food bank to
be distributed to needy families
Only current fines are eligible,
and books must be returned to
get credit for payment of fines.

Christmas Lights at
The Rock Ranch
A Country Christmas in Lights
at The Rock Ranch in Upson
County is over a mile of
Christmas lights and will be
open for families to drive
through Dec. 4 - 31. This won
derful lights display is our
Christmas gift to you (free);
however, we do accept donations
to help defray expenses and
allow us to improve the display
each year. Ride through as many
times as you like. The lights will
be on from 6 - 10 p.m. Tuesday -
Sunday (closed Mondays). On
Friday and Saturday nights,
Truett's Barn will be open with
Christmas music, a Christmas
store (featuring gifts and items
from our produce stand), hot
concession items like hot choco
late, cider, blueberry delight and
homemade soups, and the out
door fireplaces will be lit for
your family to buy a s'more kit
and roast some marshmallows.

Griffin Choral Arts
performs Christmas
concert
‘Christmas with Griffin Choral
Arts,’ under direction of Dr.
Stephen J. Mulder, will be pre
sented on Thursday, Dec. 6, at
7:30 p.m. at Griffin First Baptist
Church, 106 W. Taylor St. This
sixth annual Christmas concert
continues the tradition with
music for choir, organ, Barrister
Brass, and percussion and
includes audience carols to start
off the holiday season. John
Rutter’s Gloria highlights the
evening. Tickets are $10 general
admission at the door or in
advance in Griffin at Artistic
Flowers and Gifts and J.
Michael’s Frameworks; in
Barnesville at Goggans Florist;
in Zebulon at A Novel
Experience bookstore; and in
Thomaston at the TUAC
Gallery. Tickets are selling fast
and this concert is expected to
be sold out in advance. Tickets
will be also be sold at Griffin
First Baptist Church (enter
through Hill St doors) on Dec. 5
& 6 from 10:00-12:00 & 2:00-
4:00. Griffin Choral Arts is com
posed of 50 singers from all over
the region, many of whom are
music teachers at the elemen
tary, middle, secondary, or col
lege level. The mission of Griffin
Choral Arts is to bring “the best
choral music to the community.”

p.m. Anchor of Hope is providing
a "Parent's Night Out" free of
charge for families who have
children with special needs. This
is offered the first Friday of each
month to encourage and support

children
Central Georgia Autism, Ltd.
will host its 6th Annual
Christmas Party with families of
autistic children on Saturday,
Dec. 8 from 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. at
Vineville United Methodist
Church, 2045 Vineville Ave.,
Macon. There will be games,
toys, inflatables, family pictures,
door prizes, Giuseppi’s Pizza,
ornament making, Santa, and
