Forsyth’s Hugh Cromer, The Paparazzi
Forsyth pharmacist
Hugh Cromer and his
wife Karen had a brush
with famous actor
George Clooney and his
new bride while vaca
tioning in Venice, Italy
last month.
Cromer said he and
Karen were traveling by
boat down Venice's
Grand Canal on the way
to the train station on
Sunday, Sept. 28 when
they noticed a large
commotion and an
armada of boats coming
down the waterway.
Someone said, "that's a
wedding" and as the
boats got closer they
realized it was the
famous 53-year-old actor
and his new bride, 36-
year-old Amal
Alamuddin Clooney.
They had married the
day before.
Cromer said he started
taking photos of the
commotion and didn't
figure he'd gotten much
of a picture in the chaos.
But when he got to the
train station and looked,
he realized he'd cap
tured the newlyweds on
their boat in a shot wor
thy of a tabloid
paparazzi.
The only question now,
said Cromer, is can he
sell the photograph to
the National Enquirer?
"I just paid my taxes
so I need the money,"
joked Cromer.
Later he added, "I've
never even heard of
George Clooney, but
everybody seemed to be
excited about it."
Long named one of
Hollywood's most eligi
ble bachelors, Clooney
rose to fame with the hit
TV show "ER" and has
gone on to have a suc
cessful film career.
Among those at the
wedding were Bill
Murray and Matt
Damon.
