Visitor survives five bullets to his body BY WILL DAVIS publisher@mymcr.net Forsyth police say jealousy over a girl friend may have moti vated Terry “Little Milton” Bowden to shoot a Fayetteville man five times in the parking lot of Piedmont Hills Apartments on Hwy. 41 on Thursday morn ing. But Inv. David Brown said Bowden may have shot some one who didn’t even know his girlfriend before Bowden shot and killed himself. Bowden, 29, of Forsyth, shot Jay Thomas Wilson, 37, of Fayetteville five times with a .380 pistol in front of Apartment 21 in the Piedmont Hills parking lot around 8:50 a.m., said Brown. The Monroe County Report er is sponsoring the Forsyth Political Forum and all candidates are invited. The event is open to the pub lic. Free refreshments will be served at 6 p.m. and the forum will begin at 6:30 p.m. Eight candidates are seek ing city council seats and two men are competing for mayor in the Nov. 3 election. Eric Wilson will challenge incumbent mayor John Howard II. Wilson resigned from his Post 2 council posi tion to enter the mayor’s race. Three candidates qualified see DEBATE page 6A Wreck claims driver on Unionville Road A Forsyth man was killed last Thursday, Oct. 1 when he overturned and was ejected just before reaching his home on Unionville Road in Monroe County. Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Unionville Road around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday where they found James Monroe Brookshire, 66, of 471 Unionville Road, in a ditch next to his overturned green Chevy pickup truck. His wife and passenger, Nina Brookshire, was trapped inside the vehicle. Monroe County Fire/EMS extracted Mrs. Brookshire, who was taken to Navicent Medical Center in Macon. Mr. Brookshire was pronounced dead on the scene. It appears the truck was traveling south on Unionville Road from High Falls Road, left the roadway on the right shoulder, struck a culvert then overturned. The cause of the accident is unknown at this time and the accident is still under investigation. The Brookshires’ dog, Roxy, was in the truck and was also injured in the wreck. She was taken from the scene by friends. Neighbors said Brookshire was a Vietnam Veteran and retired truck driver.
