River Overlook
residents report
theft of passports,
check register
At about 5:08 p.m.
on June 27, Dep. Perry
Fitzgerald and Sgt.
William Jackson met with
a River Overlook couple
who said they ordered
carpeting through Home
Depot. However, after the
installation service was
completed, the residents
said they noticed their
passports and the male
resident’s empty checkbook
register were missing from
their nightstand. The male
resident said the company
that did the installation
on June 23 was Romanoff
Renovations. The male
resident said the crew
worked from about 3 p.m.
to 8 p.m., and he was in
his home the entire time
the crew was present.
The male resident then
provided Fitzgerald with
the head male contrac
tor’s name and vehicle,
a white 1992 Ford Club
Wagon van. Fitzgerald
then contacted Romanoffs
customer service number
to get more information on
the male contractor.
Forsyth woman
suspected of
theft, arrested on
High Falls Road
A 35-year-old white
Forsyth woman was
arrested and charged
with having no proof of
insurance and suspended
registration after a traffic
stop on High Falls Road
on June 27. At about 11:38
a.m. on June 27, Dep.
Perry Fitzgerald and Sgt.
William Jackson went to
a Maplewood Drive home
where the female resident
said her home had been
broken into multiple times
over the past few months.
The resident said several
Ryobi power tools, a ceil
ing fan and a screen door
were the items stolen
during the most recent
burglary. The resident
then showed Fitzgerald
where the home’s front
door appeared to have
been forced open mul
tiple times. The resident
said she believes another
woman is responsible for
the thefts. She said she
has seen the other woman
in possession of her prop
erty and said she keeps the
items inside a gray 2004
Mitsubishi Eclipse. Later
the same day at 3:30 p.m.,
the deputies spotted the
other woman’s car on High
Falls Road and determined
it had no insurance and
suspended registration.
Fitzgerald then met with
the other woman at Kelly’s
Bait and Tackle Shop, and
the other woman denied
having been to the resi
dent’s home recently.
Six Atlanta-
area occupants
charged with
drug possession
A 20-year-old black
Riverdale man, an 18-year-
old black East Point man,
a 30-year-old black East
Point man, a 20-year-old
black Rex man, a 25-year-
old black Union City
woman and a 17-year-old
black Union City woman
were each arrested and
charged with Violation of
the Georgia Controlled
Substance Act after a traf
fic stop on 1-75 North on
June 22. At about 3:36
p.m. on June 22, Dep.
Kemeyan Colvard saw a
gray 2016 Chevrolet Sonic
with several occupants
sitting on top of another
and following the vehicle
in front of it too closely
on 1-75 South near mile
marker 191. Colvard saw
there were six occupants in
the vehicle and it smelled
strongly of raw marijuana.
Dep. John Thompson
then arrived at the scene
to assist. Colvard and
Thompson asked the four
rear passengers to exit
the vehicle. The second
male passenger to exit, the
18-year-old, immediately
took off running toward
the woods. The deputies
asked the five other occu
pants the identity of the
passenger that ran, but
they all denied knowing
his name. The deputies
then searched the vehicle
and found in the front pas
senger floorboard a gray
backpack containing sev
eral Wells Fargo checks,
a Ruger P95 handgun,
which was stolen out of
Newton County and a
second handgun, a Ruger
LC9. The deputies also
found a red backpack in
the vehicle’s trunk contain
ing a clear plastic bag of
marijuana, a clear plastic
bag containing suspected
Xanax, a scale and sev
eral empty clear plastic
bags. Once the deputies
told the five occupants
what they had found, they
then began to blame the
passenger who had run
into the woods for having
the drugs. A female pas
senger then told deputies
the identity of the escaped
passenger. Deputies then
arrested the five occu
pants. Sgt. Lawson Bittick
then notified the Georgia
State Patrol to send their
helicopter to assist with
locating the escaped pas
senger. Finally, Cpl. Kevin
Williams saw the pas
senger running across six
lanes of 1-75 while several
cars slammed on brakes
in order to avoid hitting
the passenger. Sgt,. Ronnie
Evans then saw the pas
senger near English and
Travis roads before he
was finally found on 1-75
North, where a male driver
hit the passenger with his
vehicle’s driver side door as
the passenger ran around
his vehicle. Sgt- Michael
Hull then arrested the pas
senger.

by dispatchers of a drunk
driver in a gray SUV leav

received a second call
about the gray SUV swerv

and Sgt- Michael Hull then
saw the SUV on Jenkins

tree. The male driver had a
bloody nose and appeared
t-o be disoriented. The driv

Man arrested
after crashing
into vehicles of
federal agents
A 32-year-old white
Macon man was arrested
and charged with leaving
the scene of an accident-
after he allegedly tried t-o
flee after striking a pair
of vehicles driven by fed
eral marshals on Benson
Ham Road on June 24.
At- about- 4:29 p.m., Cpl.
Daniel Ahlst-rom went- to
Benson Ham Road near
Hwy. 18 about- the U.S.
Marshals Fugitive Task
Force being involved in an
accident- with a fugitive.
When Ahlst-rom arrived,
Supervisory Inspector
Marshal Robertson told
him he was following
a male driver of a red
2014 Toyota Corolla, who
had multiple warrants.
Robertson said the driver
was traveling south on
Benson Ham Road when
he turned into a parking
lot- and dropped off an
unknown female pas
senger. As the driver was
exiting the parking lot-,
multiple Marshals’ vehicles
tried t-o block the driver’s
car in. The driver then hit-
Robertson’s vehicle before
going across the road and
getting stuck in a ditch.
The driver then exited his
car and fled on foot- into
the woods east- of 1-75.
The driver ran for about-
100 yards before he was
caught- Ahlst-rom then
met- with two other mar
shals, Jordan and Wessel,
who said the driver also
hit- their vehicle as well.
Wessel searched the driver
and found in his front-
right- pants pocket- a plastic
bag containing suspected
methamphetamine as well
as a glass smoking pipe,
which he turned over to
Ahlst-rom. Ahlst-rom also
found a small plastic bag
containing marijuana in
the driver’s car’s center
console. The driver was
also charged with posses
sion of methamphetamine,
possession of marijuana
and possession of drug
related objects. The driver
also crashed a Budget-
Rental truck into a fence

on. As Duncan pulled in
behind the vehicle, the
male driver walked out-
from behind the dumpster
zipping his pants. The
driver then approached
Duncan and apologized
for urinating behind the
dumpster. The driver said
he was traveling from
Stone Mountain to Dublin
to pick up a friend when
he had t-o urinate and
couldn’t- hold it- any more.
Duncan asked the driver
why he didn’t- stop earlier
t-o use the bathroom, but-
the driver didn’t- answer.
Duncan then asked the
driver who the male pas
senger was, and the driver
said he didn’t- know the
passenger’s last- name
despite knowing him
since birth. Duncan then
smelled a faint- odor of raw
marijuana coming from
inside the vehicle. The
passenger, who did not-
have an ID, had slurred
speech, droopy, bloodshot-
eyes and appeared t-o be
falling asleep. The pas
senger said they were
headed t-o Baxley t-o pick
up a friend. Neither the
driver nor the passenger
could identify the friend
they were going to pick up.
The passenger then failed
several field sobriety tests,
and Duncan determined
he was not- okay t-o drive.
Duncan then twice had
t-o grab the passenger t-o
keep him from getting
back into the vehicle. Cpl.
Kevin Powell instead t-old
the passenger he would
give him a ride t-o Waffle
House. After Powell put-
t-he passenger in his patrol

vehicle and found a black
plastic bag under the front-
passenger seat- Inside the
bag were 21 small bundles
wrapped in black electri
cal tape along with a roll
of electrical tape and two
packs of rolling papers.
Duncan then opened one
of the bundles and found
suspected marijuana.
Duncan then directed
Powell t-o take the pas
senger t-o the Monroe
County Jail as well. When
Duncan showed the driver
the black bag, the driver
denied knowing about-
it- and said he wouldn’t-
talk anymore. Once the
deputies unwrapped all
of the bundles, they found
an unknown amount- of
tobacco, 14 small bundles
of suspected methamphet-
amine, five small bundles
of suspected marijuana, 10
