presenting a Summer
Walk-a-Weigh program
on Fridays during
June 17 through July
22 from 10-11 a.m. at
the Monroe County
Recreation Department
gym. Walk-a-Weigh is
for anyone who would
like to lose weight per
manently. It focuses
on changing lifestyle
through healthy menus
and exercise. It can
also help deal with
(and prevent) diabetes,
cardiovascular disease,
osteoporosis and other
chronic diseases. The
Rec Dept, gym offers
a cool, safe place to
walk on Fridays at the
same time as getting
good tips for healthy
meals and encourage

test for amateur
license
Butts County Amateur
Radio Club will hold
a “Ham Cram” on
Saturday, July 16. A
Ham Cram is an all
day class that pre
pares you to take the
FCC Amateur Radio
Technician license
exam. If you’ve ever
wanted to get started in
the hobby of Amateur
Radio, the Ham Cram
is a quick way to get
your license. The Ham
Cram will be at Butts
County Fire Station
#7 on Colwell Road
off Highway #16 west
of Jackson. The class
begins at 8:30 a.m. The
Technician license exam
will be administered
immediately follow
ing the class at 4 p.m.
There is no charge for
the class but there is
a small charge for the
test. Space is limited;
pre-registration is rec

Schoolhouse by band

Johnson. The concert
is presented by the
Jackson-Butts County
Council for the Arts.
