Knights’ Club recognizes students with courage
The following students at K. B. Sutton El
ementary were recognized for demonstrating
the core value of Courage during the month
of October: Wyatt Jones, Liam Stamps,
Braylon Eason, Melody Herndon,Tanner
Turnbow, Madi Hudson, Dylan Dewberry,
Chevy Scott, Jael Gonzalez Salazar, Madison
Ogletree, Brayden Hanson, Braylen Sikes,

monds, Riley Wilson, Payton Wilder, Karol
Pompa, Justin Sherwood, Noah Faulkner,

Kindergarteners honors
veterans in song
On Nov. 11, kindergarten students at K.B. Sutton Elementary presented their Veterans Day pro
gram. During the program, the children recognized and honored those who have served in the
Armed Forces. A highlight of the program was when the group sang and performed sign language
to the song, “One Small Voice.” The patriotic program was directed by Mrs. Sandy Watson, music
teacher.

wall in the li
brary media
center. The
students
worked col-
laboratively
in groups
to make designs that represented evaporation, condensation,
precipitation, and accumulation.
Mrs. Dews is October STAR
Mrs. Jennifer Dews was chosen as the
STAR Teacher for the month of Octo
ber at K.B. Sutton Elementary. She was
nominated by her 5th grade student,
Marcas Molina. In Marcas’s nomination,
he wrote, “I am nominating Mrs. Dews
because she helps me when I need help.
I am also nominating Mrs. Dews because
she gives us a second chance to improve
our behavior. She also explains what we
are talking about. She also lets us act out
what we were talking about. She lets us
do experiments that are fun but they also
teach us something about what we were
talking about. She also lets us watch vid
eos about the lesson. ”
BMX riders thrill
Sutton students
Readers rewarded with
specially made bookcases
The Monroe County Adult and Community Education group (MCACE) gifted
a group of 2nd grade students at K.B. Sutton Elementary with expandable
bookcases. Two students in each second grade class were chosen to receive
a bookcase because of their love for reading. The shelves were built by high
school students at Mary Persons. K.B. Sutton appreciates the efforts by
MCACE to encourage literacy.
On Tuesday, Nov. 8, K.B. Sutton students en
joyed the thrilling performance of two BMX
bike riders as a reward for participating in the
school’s cookie dough fundraiser. The children
thought the bike tricks presented were “awe
some and cool”!
Reed for the Record Day
Mr. Joe Reed from
Monroe Reads
visited K.B. Sutton
Elementary on Oct.
27 to share the
book, “The Bear
Ate My Sandwich,”
with students. He
shared the story with
seven classes, which
ranged from Pre-K
through 2nd grade,
as a part of Read for
the Record Day. On
Read for the Record
Day, public support
for literacy and early
learning is shown through the organization of guest readers who share a common story
in a variety of locations around the world.
