Indicted
for Russian
Roulette
teen death
BY WILL DAVIS

A Monroe County grand jury indicted 19-year-old Kaleb
Greene of Forsyth on Tuesday, Nov. 15 for the murder of
his friend Gabryon Walker last fall.
Greene is now scheduled to be
arraigned, formally charged, on Jan. 11
on two counts each of involuntary man
slaughter and reckless conduct plus
pointing a gun at another.
Assistant district attorney Mark
Daniel spent two hours with the grand
jury last Tuesday sharing evidence
that Greene shot Walker, 17, in the
head at his Old Rumble Road home
the night of Sept. 12, 2015. Walker was
taken to the Medical Center Navicent
Health where he was pronounced dead
around 2:45 a.m. There were reports
that horseplay was involved, a form of
Russian Roulette with a .38 revolver.
Two other teens present when the shoot
ing occurred told deputies that Greene
fled on foot into some nearby woods.
Investigators searched for Greene
through the night, even dispatching
Georgia Department of Corrections track
ing dogs. But they were unable to find him.
Deputies finally found Greene, whose mother lived in
Houston County, at a Houston County home. Magistrate
Judge Chip Dunn set a $62,500 bond that would require
Greene to wear an ankle tracking device and stay in
Georgia as part of his bond. But no one has bonded him

Fast internet coming for some
BY WILL DAVIS

Monroe County’s fastest-
growing neighborhood may
soon be growing even more
when AT&T finishes add
ing fiber cable there to offer
homes fast internet service.
“It should be a boon,” said
River Forest property man
ager Jay Pace.
Pace said River Forest
already had fiber AT&T
lines to the ports in front of
each of the neighborhood’s
210+ homes. But he said
those lines turned into cop
per wires from the ports to
the homes. That means River
Forest residents have been
stuck with Generation 2 DSL
internet service, which Pace
said gets pretty slow when
usage peaks as kids get home
from school. And since AT&T
is no longer adding new DSL
customers, the past 30 new
homeowners in River Forest
have been unable to get any
AT&T internet service. Pace
said River Forest has lost
four home sales recently
when buyers discovered the
neighborhood had poor inter
net service.
But Pace said two crews are
working to add fiber capabil
ity at each home. Sources
said that they should be done
next year, giving River Forest
residents the option to order
much faster 1 GB internet
speeds.
