City gives employee bonuses
BY DIANE GLIDEWELL
news@mymcr.net
Employees of the City of Forsyth
already have their Christmas bonuses
for 2016. City manger Janice Hall
asked that council approve the same
amounts as last year for city employ
ees and approve giving the checks
before Thanksgiving/Black Friday
shopping days.
On Nov. 7, council voted to give each
full-time employee with greater than
one year on the job $300, each full
time employee with less than a year
$150 and each part-time employee
$100 and to distribute bonuses with
their last pay before Thanksgiving.
Hall said the bonuses, which include
paying the employees’s portion of taxes
on the money, cost the city $21,800
in 2015 and should be about the
same amount this year. Mayor Eric
Wilson said the city is also planning a
Christmas party for its employees.
Council members Greg Goolsby,
Melvin Lawrence, Dexter King and
Mike Dodd voted for the bonuses.
Council members Julius Stroud and
Chris Hewett were not at the meeting.
