1st graders meet pumpkin
plant challenges
Mrs. Steed’s first graders at Hubbard Elementary planted Jack Be Little pumpkin
seeds in August. Every Wednesday, students measure and make observations about
the plants. Students also record the amount of water the plants received each week
and the temperature for that day. Students have encountered two problems with the
pumpkin plants. The first problem was the plants were overcrowded. The students
decided the best solution was to transplant two of the smaller plants to another loca
tion. On one of our Wednesday observations, students noticed the leaves were turn
ing yellow and brown. Students had a plant expert look at the plants. The students
were told the plants were being invaded by white flies! Students watched a video on
how to get rid of white flies that is safe for the environment. Students sprayed a solu
tion of Dawn detergent and watered every five days. On Wednesday, Nov. 2 the stu
dents observed seven baby pumpkins.
Third

into bog
garden
Third grade students
at Hubbard Elemen
tary worked together
to dig out the space
to create a bog gar

to design the setup
of the bog as well
as came up with the
types of plants they
would like to see in
the bog.
Math = Pumpkin muffins
Students in Mrs.
Davis’ 4th grade
class at Hubbard
Elementary pre
viewed adding
fractions and mea

pumpkin muffins.
Students worked
on adding fractions
to double a recipe,
measuring accu
rately, and follow
ing directions for a
recipe. When they
finished baking,
students shared
the pumpkin muf
fins with teachers
at Hubbard. They
would like to give a
huge THANK YOU

safety before the Thanksgiving holidays.

Future Bulldogs support their team
Hubbard
Elementary
students were
proud to show
their support to
the Mary Per
sons Bulldogs
Friday night in
Cartersville.
Many students
and their fami
lies made the
two-hour trip
to cheer on the
team. Here in
Forsyth, where
Bears, Knights,
and Tigers all
grow up to be
Bulldogs, our
boys and girls
are always
looking up to
their role mod
els who are
playing on the field, cheering on the sidelines, playing in the band, or dancing with the auxiliary. From a very
young age, they cannot wait until the day when they can sport the black and gold through the halls of Mary
Persons High School and represent the Bulldogs on the field just like those who came before them. Today,
the Hubbard Tigers - MP Classes of 2024-2030, are not only proud of our football team, but also proud to be a
part of such an amazing school district and community! (Photo/Erin Carr)
