Fine Arts Center opens, concerts planned

Mary Persons Chorus and Band gave
a rousing holiday concert- for a packed
house of 1,200 in the first- event- in the
brand-new $8.2 million Fine Arts
Center on Monday, and several
exciting events are already
scheduled for the coming
months.

Candidates wanting to run for
the vacancy left- by the death
of District- 2 county commis
sioner Jim Ham must- quality on
Jan. 9-13, 2017 at- the Monroe
County Probate Office. The cost,
is $216 and the special election
will be March 21.
Candidates must, live in
District. 2, which spans the
southwestern comer of the
county. The District. 2 bound
ary starts on the south side of
Hwy. 41 at the Lamar County
line, extends finger-like to the
Forsyth Golf Club and 1-75,
then wraps around the south
end of the city limits of Forsyth
(District 1), juts back up to the
city up Hwy. 42 to include the
east, side of that, state highway,
encompasses the southeast,
comer of the
city from Tift.
College Drive and 1-75
southward, to include Hwy.
41 and Montpelier Road.
The boundary hits the
Bibb County line around
Zebulon Road, southwest, of
Bolingbroke.
