Gresco announces expansion
GRAMLING
Gresco Utility Supply in Smarr has
announced plans to invest $3 million to expand
the warehouse at its Rumble Road location.
Gresco president and CEO Steve Gramling
said the company has grown 19 percent the
past two years and simply needs more room
for inventory to keep up with growing demand.
Gresco broke ground for the project last week
and it should be completed later this year.
Gramling said Gresco will have just about
filled up its current location when the addition
is finished. Gresco’s primary business is sell
ing electrical materials to electric membership
cooperatives, municipalities, and contractors.
It has also added new technologies to its
offerings, including drones and fiber-optic
cable. Gresco has hired Stroud and Co. of
Macon to build the 40,000-square-foot ware
house as well as a long lean-to for storing
inventory. The new warehouse space will
nearly double Gresco’s capacity, said Gramling.
Gresco has hired 14 new employees in the
past year to keep up with its growth, said
Gramling. The company now has about
79 employees at its Smarr facility and 180
employees around the South.

DRUGS
Continued from 1A
said he was wanted for probation
violation related to a marijuana
arrest.
When asked, Flores said he had
no drugs inside his car. But a
search turned up three vacuum-
sealed bags containing marijuana
in a suitcase in the trunk, as
well as a brown bag in the back
seat with a large amount of cash,
according to a report. Colvard also
found two flip phones in the front
passenger seat and two iPhones on
Flores. Deputies counted the cash
and found it totaled $67,686.
Flores was charged with posses
sion of marijuana with intent to
distribute. He was released on a
$15,000 property bond.
Colvard made another big drug arrest on 1-75
Monday around 8:28 p.m. after pulling over a
Macon pair in a Dodge Charger for having no
tag light. Colvard reported smelling marijuana
and then finding more than a pound of met.h
and three guns in the car. The driver, Costeyetta
Monteiro, 27, of Macon, and passenger Prince
Monteiro, 30, were charged with possession of
firearms during the commission of a felony and
possesion of met.h with intent to distribute. The
driver was also charged with illegal window tint
and no tag light. The vehicle was seized and
impounded.

In a separate but related incident, at about 4:30
p.m. that, same day, a second Tompkins Creek Trail
resident., identified as Susan Landrum, told Maples
she was fed up with the cows also being in her yard.

age to her yard and damaged her screen porch. Both

tution from Vaughn for the damages.

County begins delinquent tax sale
Monroe County begins advertising in this week’s
Reporter an auction of properties for unpaid taxes.
Tax commissioner Lori Andrews is advertising parcels
trying to collect, more than $199,000 in unpaid taxes. The
notice, which usually shrinks each week as taxpayers
settle up, is found in this week’s D section.
The delinquent, properties are scheduled to be auc
tioned off on the courthouse steps at. 10 a.m. on Tuesday,
March 6. Bidding opens at. the amount, of taxes owed on
the property. Buyers must, bring certified funds or cash to
buy the delinquent, properties, and pay a $12 recording
fee. Under the law, buyers aren’t, able to touch the prop
erty for 366 days after the auction, giving the property
owner a year to re-claim it.. However, to reclaim the prop
erty, the original property owner would have to pay 120
percent, of what, the buyer paid, said Andrews.
Andrews has said she doesn’t, act. on properties unless
they’re delinquent, for more than one year. The last, tax
sale was held in September. For more information call
the tax commissioners office at. 994-7020.

UNFAIR AND UNBALANCED by Marilyn Langford
Nunes Memo: Where’s the beef?
W ho would’ve
thought, that, a
small, innocuous
word like “Memo,”
would set. the hair
on fire of an entire nation? In
business, I liked, and preferred,
memos. Unlike a formal letter or
report., a memo was less formal
and contained useful,
t.o-t.he-point. informa
tion. Once again, the
Trump administration
has ruined a perfectly
good word for me. For
two weeks “the memo”
threatened (or promised)
to end life as we know
it. in our country. The
memo was said to prove
the Justice Department.,
the FBI, and our FISA
Courts were rife with
corruption and there
fore all must, go! It.
was also said to prove
Donald Trump would
be vindicated.
BY NOW, everyone has read or
heard about, the contents of this
infamous memo. When I read
it., I was frantically searching
for more pages because I read
nothing in the memo that, even
addressed collusion or obstruc
tion, not. to mention evidence that,
the FBI was corrupt, and on a
witchhunt.. Then it. became clear
to me—it. was never about, the
memo, but. about, the construction
of a vast, conspiracy theory aimed
at. causing chaos, divisiveness,
and to undermine the integrity
of the FBI to prepare for either
A) the firing of Rod Rosenstein
and/or Robert. Mueller to stop
the Russia investigation or, B) a
reason for Trump and his allies
not. to adhere to the findings of
the Special Prosecutor’s investi
gation.
IF THE release of this memo
was not. for A or B, why would
any half-way educated person
still think the memo was a
panacea for all that, ails Trump’s
presidency and continue the fal
lacy. Hannit.y of Trump TV said
after its release, “It. is shocking!”
The only thing shocking about,
it. was that. it. was not. shock
ing. Donald Trump tweeted, “I
am vindicated.” Proof he never
read the memo. And Donald
Trump Jr. said on a Sunday talk
show, “It. was sweet, revenge!” So
t.hat.’s what, they think this was.
Revenge. Someone needs to send
them a memo and tell them our
country is more important, than
personal revenge.
ALL OF the
distractions
being caused by
Congressman
Devin Nunes, Sean
Hannit.y, and of
course Trump, is
to turn our atten
tion away from
what, started all
this—Russian
interference in our
democratic elec
tions. Not. one
single thing has
been officially
done to expose,
punish, and
deter Russia from doing it. again.
In fact., they are still doing it.
by affecting public opinion on
social media. A prime example is
#releaset.hememo. As Sen. John
McCain said, “They are doing the
work for Putin.” As the 2018 mid
term elections approach, look for
the Russian bots to work-over
time. For the first, time, we will
go to the polls with little confi
dence that, the results will not. be
tainted.
LAST WEEK, Trump refused
to impose sanctions on Russia
for interfering in our election
that, was passed overwhelm
ingly by the Congress. He said
the passage of the bill was
deterrent, enough. Whaaaat?
Uncharacteristic of Trump, he
has never said an unkind word
about. Putin. Trump’s chummy
interactions with Putin should
give you pause. I think there is
an ample preponderance of evi
dence that. Trump may have been
compromised by Putin and the
Russians. I don’t, know if it’s in
the way described in the Steele
Dossier, but. Trump’s behavior
certainly indicates there is a gun
to his head where Putin is con
cerned.
HOW MANY times have
you heard lately, “If such and
such happens, it. will cause a
Constitutional Crisis?” Those
words sound so ominous. What,
exactly is a Constitutional
Crisis? A Constitutional Crisis
has occurred so few times in our
history, there appears to be no
clear explanation of what, causes
one, or what, happens when
there is one. A Constitutional
Crisis is when a problem goes
beyond a disagreement, that,
can’t, be resolved clearly by the
Constitution; when there is a
breakdown in ordinary proce
dure, and an unusually strong
reaction to the breakdown.
Further, a crisis results when
the branches of the Government,
cease to resolve the conflict., or
(and pay attention to this) when
a President, has fundamental
lack of understanding or disre
gard for the Constitution. Trump
and all his allies in Congress all
took the same oath, “I do sol
emnly swear that. I will support,
and defend the Constitution of
the United States against, all ene
mies, foreign and domestic ”
When did Russia stop being our
foreign enemy?
SEEMS A Constitutional Crisis
is imminent.. What, will hap
pen? The answer is “not. scrap
damn doodle.” The Republican
Party of Trump is in power. The
Republican Congress has no
incentive to take action adverse
to Trump. They will not. give up
their honey pot. easily, not. even
to save our country. The Koch
Brothers gave Speaker Paul
Ryan $500,000 after the tax bill
passed. There’s no telling what,
he’d get. if he saved Trump’s
Presidency. I think the Koch
Brothers would quite like to be
called Oligarchs instead of bil
lionaires.
REMEMBER I told you
last, year that, the Trump
Administration was headed for a
train wreck? Well, they had one
last, week, in Charlottesville of all
places. I told you so!
