GOVERNOR
Continued from 1A
children, Tippins is run
ning as the candidate for
the future. Tippins said
that, state government
sex trafficking, stop ille
gal aliens, support, the
right, to bear arms and to
allow access to cannabis
oil for medical problems.
Tippins certainly brings
to the race an impres
sive biography. He was
the company and man
aged its consulting busi
ness for the eastern U.S.
Even as his business
career blossomed, Clay
remained with the SEAL
Team Reserves and
in 2015 was deployed

hasn’t, changed much in
50 years even as society
and technology have
changed tremendously.
“I want, Georgia to
become a 21st, century
state,” said Tippins.
Tippins said he wants
to accelerate investments
in the Savannah port, to
spring it ahead of com
petitors in Charleston
and Jacksonville to
make it, a hub for trade
and jobs. To help those
goods coming into the
port, get, to the Atlanta
area, Tippins proposes an
outer bypass to relieve
traffic, and proposes a
consumption tax and/or
per-t.rip fees to pay for it.
On education, Tippins
proposes diverting more
money into second and
third-grade classrooms,
noting that, you can pre
dict, how many prison
beds you’ll need in 15
years by how many third
graders cannot, read on
grade level. He said the
state can find money
for that,, in part,, by not,
replacing 15,000 state
workers scheduled to
retire by 2020. Another
way to save state
money, said Tippins, is
to crackdown on dis
ability claims. Tippins
notes that, 20 counties in
Georgia have three times
the state average on dis
ability.
“Some of that, is fraudu
lent, and we need to make
sure people aren’t, taking
advantage of them,” said
Tippins.
Others Tippins’ posi
tions: He pledges to fight,
a national champion
swimmer both at, Shiloh
High School in Gwinnett,
County and later for
Stanford University
before joining the Navy
SEAL Reserves, rising to
the rank of Lieutenant,
Commander.
Following his SEAL
service, he worked for
several Silicon Valley
high tech companies
before returning to
Georgia, eventually
working for C-apgemini, a
world-renowned interna
tional business consult
ing firm. Tippins rose in
to Iraq where he was
decorated for his efforts
in count,er-ISIS strike
operations.
With a Type A, get,-it,-
done personality, Tippins
concedes he’s not, sure
he’s suited for politics.
But, he said with rapid
changes in society and in
Georgia, he feels that, he
is uniquely suited for the
task of leadership at, this
time.
“I wouldn’t, have
jumped in this race if I
didn’t, think I was the
best, candidate for the
future,” said Tippins.

“My opponents have 50
years of combined politi
cal experience. Our chal
lenges and opportunities
will take more than sta
tus-quo politician experi
ence. If that’s what, [the
voters] want,, they can
have it,. But, if they want,
higher level of urgency, a
what,ever-it,-takes men
tality, I’m that, guy.”
Tippins said he actu
ally thinks current, Gov.
Nathan Deal has done “a
fantastic job”, leaving the
state with a strong bal
ance sheet,. But, he said
Georgia now faces a tran
sition point,, where the
state needs to do some
things differently to keep
pace.
While Georgians don’t,
seem to be paying much
attention to the race
yet,, Tippins can already
count, of the support,
of some of his Juliette
neighbors. Former store
owner Marvin Bowdoin
has already rounded
up local supporters for
Tippins, as has Tippins’
neighbor in Juliette, Ben
Hinson, owner of Mid-
Georgia Ambulance.
Clay and his wife
Lori and their two chil
dren Henley and Clay
“Tip” Jr. live in Atlanta
when they’re not, at,
their Juliette farm on
the Jones County side
of the Ocmulgee River.
They are members of
Peachtree Road United
Methodist, Church. In his
spare time, Clay enjoys
hunting, fishing, spend
ing time with his family
and riding his tractor on
the farm in Juliette.

Hi! My name is Rikki Johnson and I am a Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer at FitCo Health Club. I am
happily married to the love of my life Scott Johnson and together we have four children ages 23-12 yrs and three grandchildren (insert huge smile with big
heart filled eyes...they are my JOY).
We are a family that is proud to call Forsyth our home! In my early 20’s at 4:45AM my sister (Becki) plucked me from
my slumber 5 days a week to accompany her to the gym. It was my sister who laid the foundation for what would not
only become my career path of Physical Education, but more importantly MY PASSION!!!
I knew I wanted to do for other people what Becki had done for me. I wanted to give the same loving (but firm, lol) encour
agement, motivation and support to help others reach their goals or DISCOVER a goal they didn’t even know they had! I
wanted to help people realize they ARE strong, they CAN push through, they CAN overcome obstacles and they CAN
DO HARD THINGS!!!
I received my first Fitness Certification through AFAA (Group Fitness) in 1999
Since then I have added:
• ACE Personal Trainer Certification • Fitour Pilates Certification • Mat Science Certification • AFFA Step Certification
• AFFA Kickboxing Certification • AFFA Hi-Lo Certification

condition than what I found them in! I would LOVE to get to know you and have you join me at FitCo Group Fitness!
