A Forsyth police
officer had to Taze
and pepper spray
a pit bull that,
attacked a pedes
trian on Union Hill
Drive on Monday,
Feb. 5.
It. was the sec
ond report, of an
attack by the dog,
which is now set.
to be euthanized
later this week at. the Monroe County Animal
Shelter.
This dog is set to be put
down later this week.

Perhaps greatest-ever MP player
leads Bulldogs into state playoffs

Saturday will likely be the final chance
for Mary Persons boys basketball fans to
watch arguably the program’s greatest
player in history compete on his home
floor.
MP senior Cameron “Cam” Holden, the
state’s No. 17 ranked college prospect, by
hoopseen.com., last, month became the
first, player in program history to eclipse
the 2,000 point, mark. Entering Saturday’s
first, round state playoff game against.
Carver (Columbus), the 6’5”, 170-pound
shooting guard has scored 2,066 points in
his career.
As a senior, Holden leads the Bulldogs in
all major categories, averaging 28.2 points,
10.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 3.9 steals and
1.7 blocks while shooting 52 percent, from
the field and 69 percent, from the free
throw line. Holden overcame a badly
sprained ankle to average 27 points per
game and 11.5 rebounds per game in the
Region 2-AAAA Tournament, last, week,
including a game-high 35 points in MPs
78-56 title game loss to Upson-Lee.
MP head coach Greg Nix said Holden’s
ability to dominate offensively kept. MP in
the game most, of the way against, the top
squad in the state.
“It. just shows his greatness,” Nix said of
Holden.
And after a 77-57 semifinal win over
Spalding on Wednesday in which Holden
was visibly fighting his injury, Nix said it

Biggest Night
to Shine ever
Eli Adrien of Macon enjoys the dancing at Night to
Shine, the annual prom for special needs residents
hosted by New Providence Baptist Church on Satur
day in conjunction with The Tim Tebow Foundation.
Organizer Ashley Blann said in this, the second year,
they had their biggest crowd yet, with 208 guests
and 319 volunteers. Blann said they welcomed
people from all over Middle Georgia including
Jones, Bibb, Monroe, Lamar and Pike counties. The
Tim Tebow Foundation says that Night to Shine is
an unforgettable prom night experience, centered
on God's love, for people with special needs ages 14
and older.This year more than 540 churches from
around the world came together to host Night to
Shine for approximately 90,000 honored guests.
