FFA teams from Mary
Persons and Monroe
County Middle School
competed in eight dis
trict. competitions during
Fall Semester. Seven of
these won first or second
place in their areas and
advanced to competition
on the statewide level.
The 78 attendees
enjoyed delicious food
and were able to view
displays of the various
FFA competition areas.
Discussions of the compe
titions were presented by
FFA members so parents
and other attendees could
learn what is involved in
the various contests. For

Alumni booster club,
including providing schol
arships to students, pro
viding camp funds, pro
viding financial support,
for officer retreats and
competitions on various
levels, sponsoring meals
and awards for livestock
competitions and many
other areas. The primary
fund-raising opportunity
for FFA Alumni is the
annual raffle held at
the Forsythia Festival.
This year raffle prizes
include half of a hog,
YETI products, an AR
rifle and a over/under
shotgun. Parents were
urged to become active
supporters of the entire
FFA program by joining
the MPHS FFA Alumni
group.
Superintendent Dr.

Chairman Nolan Howard
congratulated the teams
on their successful com
petitions. They also
discussed the new ag
center that, is being built,
to support, the agricul
ture teaching program
and FFA activities. They
provided drawings and
photographs of the ag
center that, will be built,
on Thornton Road.

ministered by the Scholarship Committee of the Forsyth
United Methodist Church, Robert L. Harris, Chairman.
Scholarships funded by the Banks Scholarship Trust
are currently being accepted for the 2018-2019 school
year and will be awarded to eligible students based on
academic merit and/or financial need who have lived
in Monroe County for a period of two years at the time
of application. This financial award will provide for
expenses of an undergraduate degree to attend a fully
accredited, tax exempt, four-year College or University
in the United States.
Application form and detailed requirements may be

Deadline for submission is 5:00 p.m. on March 22,2018.
