By Will Davis publisher@mymcr.net One week after first, being disclosed by The Reporter, Monroe County schools haven’t clari fied how they hired a substitute teacher who had been con victed of offering oral sex to a 13-year- old boy when he last worked as a sub. The Reporter has obtained the 119-page crimi nal file of Javis Jabon Stewart, the 35-year-old who had been working in Monroe County classrooms as a sub since November. It shows Stewart had passed notes to a 13-year-boy in his class when he taught at Appling Middle School in Macon in April See MOLESTER. Page 7A ELECTION 2018 Candidates rise to challenge BOE incumbents 1 NEW m IN SMUtR There are a lot of new residents moving to the Smarr area, but few have garnered the excitement of the bald eagle who seems to have set up shop on Bunn Road in front of the home of Lewis Home. Residents said they've also seen the eagle in the nearby Chriswood subdivision.There have been reports of eagles on Lake Juliette and the Ocmulgee River for years, but this seems to be the first recorded sighting of an eagle in Monroe County in many years. Allen Benson said his son Hunter first saw the eagle on Sunday morning. Benson got several photographs and this close-up one was taken by nearby resident Wendy Jones. Zachary Gossett, 34, of Baconton stopped at the Ingles Express pumps around 3:53 p.m and the bike was soon fully engulfed in flames next to the gas pumps. Forsyth police officers Kianda Pritchett and David Asbell used fire extin guishers to put out the fire with the help of witnesses. Gossett said he couldn't say much about what happened until his insurance claim is resolved. (Special to the Reporter)
