INCIDENT REPORTS
The following incidents were reported by the
Monroe County Sheriffs Office Jan. 26-Feb. 21.
Rum Creek store
cashier reports
customer makes
death threats
A 43-year-old white
Juliette man faces charg
es of criminal trespass,
simple battery, simple
assault and making ter
roristic threats after he
allegedly threatened to
kill a cashier at the Rum
Creek convenience store
on Hwy. 87 on Feb. 20. At
about 3:55 p.m., a female
cashier told Dep. Thomas
Haskins and Inv. Martin
Ursitti that at about 3:50
p.m. a male customer
entered the store and
immediately walked to
the front counter and
started shouting profanity
at her. The cashier said
the store has had prob
lems with the customer
in the past, and he has
threatened to kill both
the cashier and the store’s
owner several times. The
cashier said the customer
was no longer allowed in
the store, and she believed
he had mental health
issues and was poten
tially very violent. The
cashier said the customer
shouted, “I’m going to kill
you,” repeatedly before
telling her he was a mem
ber of Hell’s Angels. He
then vowed to call Hell’s
Angels to kill the cashier
and her family. The
cashier said the customer
made his threats through
the security window at
the front counter and she
said he also pointed at
her and reached through
the window. When the
cashier told the customer
he was not allowed inside
the store, the customer
refused to leave. He
then became even more
irate when the cashier
called 9-1-1, reaching
through the window
aggressively at her and
then throwing a display
holder at her through
the window before leav
ing. The cashier said no
witnesses were inside
the store while the cus
tomer threatened her but
said a male witness was
entering at the time the
customer was exiting. The
cashier said the customer
left on foot and lives three
doors down from the store
on Hwy. 87. Haskins then
met with the witness
who said he thought the
customer was “playing
around” at first before
seeing the customer throw
something through the
security window at the
cashier. The witness said
the customer ordered
him to “get the f— out of
my way” as he walked
past him to go inside.
However, the witness said
he did not hear anything
the customer said to the
cashier. Haskins then
reviewed the store’s sur
veillance video, which did
not have audio. The video
showed the customer walk
directly to the counter and
appear to point and yell at
the cashier. The video also
showed the customer lean
into the security window
as well as crawl through
it and swing a punch at
the cashier, making con
tact with her arm. When
the cashier picked up the
phone, the customer start
ed to leave before turning
around again and throw
ing a wooden display case
onto the floor. The video
showed the customer then
pick up a display case of
lighters and throw them
through the security
window before finally
exiting. The cashier said
she didn’t remember
the customer reaching
through the window and
hitting her arm, saying
she was very scared as
the incident was happen
ing. The cashier said the
customer is a convicted
felon, but said she “knew”
the suspect owned several
firearms. Haskins and
Ursitti then went to the
customer’s home but did
not locate him.
Dodge Durango
reported stolen
from Unique
Auto Sales lot
At about 6:57 p.m. on
Feb. 21, the male owner
of Unique Auto Sales on
Rivoli Road told Sgt. Todd
Haskins that a white
2013 Dodge Durango
had been stolen from his
lot. The owner said he
viewed his surveillance
video and determined the
theft occurred at about
5:39 p.m. on Feb. 12.
The owner said the video
showed a tall, slender
black male walk through
the gate, take a key and
begin clicking the remote
to see which vehicle the
key operated. The owner
said the suspect found
the Durango and drove
out of the lot. The owner
said he then discovered
via CARFAX that the
Durango had been in a
wreck in Griffin on Feb.
12. A Georgia State Patrol
trooper tolcl Haskins
the vehicle had been
impounded by Watson’s
Performance in Griffin.
The male Watson’s owner
agreed to hold the vehicle
for the Monroe County
Sheriffs Office.
Necklace buyer
leaves seller
with counterfeit
bills on Feb. 20
At about 9 p.m. on Feb.
20, a Jackson man told
Dep. Robert Rodgers he
used an app on his phone
called “Letgo” to sell a
gold necklace. The man
said he met the male
buyer at the Shell sta
tion on Hwy. 42 North
at about 8:15 p.m. that-
evening, and the buyer
paid $550 for the neck
lace. The man said he told
the buyer to wait- while
he counted the money,
but- the buyer refused
and instead jumped into
his car with the necklace
and headed northbound
on 1-75 in a black Nissan
Alt-ima. The man said
later that- evening he
noticed the $550 in cur
rency was counterfeit.
The man told Rodgers the
buyer was a tall, skinny
white male with a tear
drop tattoo under his eye.
The man said the buyer
had subsequently blocked
him from messaging him
on the Letgo app.
Man charged
with disorderly
conduct after
Hwy. 87 dispute
A 32-year-old white
Macon man was arrested
and charged with dis
orderly conduct- after a
domestic dispute at- a
Hwy. 87 home on Feb.
20. At- about- 9:39 p.m. on
Feb. 20, Cpl. Jake Justice
went- to the Whispering
Pines mobile home park
on Hwy. 87 where a male
resident- said his ex-wife
and her three children
were inside of his home.
The resident- said his
ex-wife and her current-
husband had been hav
ing marital woes, and his
ex-wife’s husband had
locked his ex-wife and her
children out- of their home
for several hours that- day
while refusing to let- them
back in. The resident- said
he then allowed his ex-
wife and her children to
come to his home to bathe
and do homework at
which point- the ex-wife’s
husband drove over to
his home and honked his
vehicle horn loudly. The
resident- said he went- out
side to talk to his ex-wife’s
husband, who got out
his vehicle quickly and
demanded the resident- to
step back. The resident-
said he feared the hus
band was carrying a gun,
so he said he fired his own
weapon out- of fear for his
own life. The resident- said
the two then exchanged
words before the husband
opened his trunk to get-
something out-, which the
resident- believed was a
gun. The resident- said he
then re-entered his home
and told his ex-wife and
her children to hide in a
bedroom. He said when
he went- back outside, the
husband was speeding
away in his vehicle to his
nearby home just- about- a
100 yards away, where he
heard gunshots. Justice
then met- with the hus
band, who appeared very
distraught- and upset- The
husband said he and his
wife were going through
marital issues and he
thought- she was going
to divorce him. He said
he didn’t- want- his wife
or their children to come
inside the home earlier
because he didn’t- want-
them seeing him in that-
kind of emotional state.
The husband said he then
went- over to the resident’s
home to confront- his
wife and “get- answers”
at- which point- the resi
dent- walked outside. The
husband said he feared
for his own life when the
resident- fired his gun,
so he went- to his trunk
to get- a gun of his own.
The husband said when
he saw the resident- go
back inside his house, he
took off from the scene in
his vehicle. He also said
the resident- fired several
more shots at- him as he
drove away. Justice then
searched the perimeter of
the resident’s home and
did not- find any evidence
of guns having been fired
at- all during the dispute.
Justice then arrested the
husband for going over to
the resident’s home and
causing a disturbance.
Valentine’s Day
motel visitors
report finding
bugs on mattress
At- about- 11:20 p.m.
on Feb. 14, Dep. Perry
Fitzgerald went- to the
Budget- Inn on Hwy. 42
North where a male guest-
and a female guest- said
they had been staying in
a room there since Feb. 8
and had noticed bugs on
their bed mattress. The
guests said they had spo
ken to motel management-
about- the issue but- said
management- declined
to allow them to change
rooms. Fitzgerald told
the guests he could not-
force management- to give
them a new room and
encouraged them to make
a formal complaint- to the
motel chain.
