Driver charged
with possession
of pot after 1-75
South traffic stop
A 21-year-old black
Macon man was arrested
and charged with posses
sion of marijuana after a
traffic stop on 1-75 South
on Jan. 27. At about 2:50
p.m., Dep. Jacob Robins
saw a black 2014 Ford
Fusion traveling 86 mph
in a 70 mph zone on 1-75
South near mile marker
189. Robins smelled the
odor of marijuana com
ing from the vehicle, but
both the male driver
and the male passen
ger denied having any
marijuana. While the
passenger was exiting
the vehicle, Robins saw
what appeared to be a
bag of marijuana in his
left hand. The passenger
then dropped his phone
on the ground and tried
to put the marijuana bag
underneath the vehicle.
When the passenger saw
Robins was watching
him, he then dropped
his phone onto the car
seat and tried to hide
the marijuana under the
seat. The passenger then
turned his back to Robins
and tried to eat the
marijuana. Robins then
squeezed the passenger’s
cheeks so he couldn’t
swallow the marijuana
and ordered him to spit it
out. The passenger then
spit six small clear bags
of marijuana out onto
the ground. Robins and
Dep. Cody Maples then
searched the vehicle and
found a jar containing
marijuana residue inside
a bag on the passenger’s
side floorboard. The driv
er was cited for speeding
and released from the
scene. Robins then took
the passenger to the
Monroe County Jail.
Man arrested
after stabbing
neighbor during
fight at home
A 37-year-old black
Forsyth man was arrest
ed and charged with
aggravated assault after
he allegedly stabbed his
neighbor during a fight,
at a Blue Ridge School
Road home on Feb. 3. At
about 10:46 p.m., Sgt.
Todd Haskins and Dep.
Kemeyan C-olvard went
to a Blue Ridge School
Road home after dis
patchers notified them of
a fight.. A male neighbor
said he had been stabbed
on his left, side behind his
arm by a male resident,
during the fight.. Monroe
County EMTs then took
the neighbor to Macon’s
Medical Center Navicent.
Health. A female witness
said the male suspect
entered the home and
began yelling at. every
one. The witness said her
boyfriend, the neighbor,
stepped up and told the
suspect to stop at. which
point, a fight, ensued
and the neighbor was
stabbed. The witness
said the suspect’s mother
was present, at. the home
during the fight.. The
witness then provided
Haskins with a shirt, with
a cut. mark on it. that, she
said the neighbor was
wearing at. the time of
the stabbing. C-olvard
and Dep. Nicholas Ortiz
then arrested the sus
pect., who denied fighting
with anyone. However,
deputies saw visible blood
drops on the suspect’s
exposed underwear, and
his clothes were seized
as evidence. Deputies
then viewed the crime
scene and saw one spot, of
blood on the wall behind
a loveseat. where the
suspect’s mother said the
fight, began. The floor
underneath the loveseat.
was wet. as if it. had been
mopped before deputies
arrived. The suspect’s
mother said her son came

home and began yelling
at. everyone to get. out. of
his house. The suspect’s
mother said she told
her son not. to talk to
her guests that, way at.
which point, the neighbor
confronted her son. The
suspect’s mother said the
neighbor choked her son
and denied ever seeing
her son possess a knife.
The suspect’s mother said
she later left, the home
because she had a date
and everyone else had
already dispersed.
Forsyth driver
arrested after
stolen rifles
found in truck
A 41-year-old white
Forsyth man was arrest
ed and charged with
theft, by receiving stolen
property after stolen
guns were found in his
truck during a traffic
stop on Hwy. 42 North
on Feb. 5. At. about. 12:02
a.m., Officer Jacquetta
Newsome of the Forsyth
Police Department, saw
a white 2004 Chevrolet.
Silverado with an inoper
able tag light, on Hwy. 42
North. Newsome tried
to stop the truck but. it.
continued traveling for
about, two miles until
pulling over at. the inter
section of Hwy. 42 North
and Fairview Church
Road. Dispatchers
determined the male
driver’s license was
suspended out. of South
Carolina. Officer Wade
Kendrick of the Forsyth
Police Department, then
searched the truck and
found two rifles, one of
which was a .22-caliber
reported stolen out. of
Spalding County while
the other’s serial number
appeared to have been
ground off, and the driver
was arrested. Spalding
County Inv. Hammond
said the guns matched
the description of ones
stolen in a residential
burglary there. The driv
er was also charged with
driving while license sus
pended, failure to yield to
an emergency vehicle and
having no taillight.s.
Man arrested
after allegedly
striking woman
at 1-75 rest area
A 22-year-old black
Macon man was arrest
ed and charged with
aggravated battery after
a domestic dispute at.
the 1-75 South rest, area
on Jan. 26. At. about. 5
p.m. on Jan. 26, Dep.
Cody Maples went, to
the 1-75 South rest, area
after dispatchers noti
fied Maples that, the
man was wearing all
black clothing and was
walking away from the
scene while the woman
was bleeding. The man,
who gave a fake name
and date of birth, told
Maples the woman
owed him $85, and the
woman wanted him to
get. out. of her car. He
said the fight, continued
at. the rest, area where
he poured water on the
woman. The man said
the woman then jumped
out. of the car, slipped on
the water and hit. her
head on the roof caus
ing a cut. above her eye.
The man was nervous,
evasive and continued to
raise his voice as Maples
asked him questions.
Three witnesses, two
female and one male,
then told C-pl. Jake
Justice that, they saw
the man hit. the woman
in the forehead caus
ing the cut. to her eye.
Maples then met. with
the woman who had a
large cut. above her left,
eye. Monroe County
EMTs told the woman
she needed stitches and
put. her in an ambu
lance. The woman said
she tried to defend her
self from the man by
pushing him away. She
said when she got. back
into her car, the man,
who was her boyfriend,
hit. her in the forehead.
Maples then saw blood
splatter on the car’s
steering wheel and on
the ground next, to the
car. The driver was then
taken to the Monroe
County Jail where he
was also charged with
giving a false name and
date of birth.
Americus man
arrested eight
days after fleeing
1-75 traffic stop
A 37-year-old black
Abbeville man was
arrested and charged
with giving a false name
and date of birth and
driving while license sus
pended after a traffic stop
on 1-75 South on Feb. 6.
At. about. 9:32 p.m., Dep.
Kemeyan C-olvard saw a
black 2015 Chrysler 200
speeding and failing to
maintain its lane on 1-75
South near mile marker
190. C-olvard smelled
marijuana coming from
the car, and the male
driver did not. have his
driver’s license on him.
The driver then gave
C-olvard a fake name and
date of birth. The male
passenger had marijuana
residue on his shirt., but.
C-olvard did not. find
any marijuana inside
the car. As C-pl. John
Thompson searched the
passenger for drugs, the
passenger pushed away
from him and took off on
foot.. C-olvard then took
the driver to the Monroe
County Jail, but. the pas
senger was not. found.
The passenger, a 22-year-
old black Americus man,
was later arrested on
Feb. 14. and charged
with obstruction.
Man arrested
after spitting
on woman in
Walmart lot
A 27-year-old white
Forsyth man was arrest
ed and charged with
simple battery after he
allegedly spit, on a woman
in the Walmart. parking
lot. on Feb. 8. At. about.
6:26 p.m., a Forsyth
woman told Officer Wade
Kendrick of the Forsyth
Police Department, that,
she had been assaulted
by a man in the Forsyth
Walmart. parking lot. at.
about 6 p.m. The woman
said she owed the man
money for an ounce
of marijuana several
months prior but had
gotten arrested and was
unable to pay the man.
The woman said she had
since straightened her
life up and was no longer
associating with the man
nor his friends. However,
the woman said the man
approached her vehicle
while she was sitting in
the Walmart. parking
lot.. The woman said she
rolled down her window
to talk to the man and
said she greeted the man
by calling him “punk”,
which she said was nor
mal for their relation
ship. The woman said
the man responded by
spitting in her face and
walking off. The woman
said she drove out. of the
parking lot. because she
was upset.. The woman’s
boyfriend said he saw the
man spit, in the woman’s
face. The woman said the
man was driving a silver
Chevrolet. PT Cruiser
and had parked directly
in front, of her. Kendrick
then went, to the man’s
Bentley Drive home, and
the man said he gone to
Walmart. at. about. 3 p.m.
to pick up his mother’s
medicine. The man said
he never had an alterca
tion with the woman
other than she called
him a “punk.” The man,
who smelled strongly of
alcohol and marijuana,
said he simply laughed
and walked away.
Kendrick then arrested
the man before returning
to Walmart. to view the
store’s surveillance tape.
On the video, Kendrick
saw the man at. Walmart.
at. about. 6:09 p.m.,
which matched the time
and location where the
woman said the incident,
occurred. The video also
showed the man interact
ing with the woman at.
her vehicle, but. it. was not.
clear what, happened.
Conyers driver
charged with
DUI, possession
of drugs on Feb. 7
A 35-year-old white
Conyers man was arrest
ed and charged with DUI
and possession of cocaine
during a traffic stop on
North Lee Street, on Feb.
7. At. about. 9:32 p.m.,
Officer Wade Kendrick
of the Forsyth Police
Department, saw a black
2002 Ford Expedition run
over the curb and side
walk while entering the
parking lot. of the Circle
K on North Lee Street,
Kendrick stopped the
SUV and smelled mari
juana coming from inside
of it.. Kendrick then
searched the male driver
and found a large bag of
marijuana in his pocket,
He also found in another
pocket, a large sum of
money, and he arrested
the driver. Kendrick then
searched the SUV and
found a metal container,
which contained baggies
which held several types
of pills as well as other
baggies containing sus
pected powder cocaine.
Kendrick also found a
Smith and Wesson .380
pistol inside the SUV.
The driver told Kendrick
the drugs belonged to
someone else and said
he was just “holding”
them for somebody. The
driver then told Kendrick
he was addicted to pain
pills due to a back injury
and used the drugs
daily. Officer Jacquetta
Newsome of the Forsyth
Police Department, then
took the driver to Monroe
County Hospital, where
he submitted a blood
sample, before tak
ing him to the Monroe
County Jail. The driver
was also charged with
possession of a firearm
during the commission
of a crime and Violation
of the Georgia Controlled
Substance Act.
Drivers fight in
Dunkin Donuts
parking lot over
road rage feud
According to the inci
dent. report., at. about.
7:28 a.m. on Feb. 16,
Sgt.. Willie Barkley
of the Forsyth Police
Department, went, to the
Dunkin Donuts parking
lot. on North Lee Street,
about, a fight.. A female
driver told Barkley she
was traveling on Tift
College Drive when
another female driver
drove out. in front, of her
vehicle. The driver said
she swerved into another
lane and drove around
the other vehicle at. which
point, the other vehicle
followed her until they
arrived in the Dunkin
Donuts parking lot..
The driver said she and
the other driver both
exited their vehicles and
approached one another.
The driver said in the
midst, of a verbal argu
ment., the other driver
hit. her. The driver said
she and the other driver
then exchanged blows
until she was thrown to
the ground by the other
driver. The driver said
witnesses then separated
the two until Barkley
arrived. The other
driver told Barkley she
was turning out. of her
Juliette Road home when
the driver drove up close
to her vehicle and began
to tailgate her. The other
driver said the driver cut.
her off and sped toward
town, so she video record
ed the driver’s erratic
driving. The other driver
said when they arrived
at. Dunkin Donuts, the
driver stopped her vehicle
in front, of her, and the
two got. out. and began
to argument.. The other
driver said the driver
started coming up close
to her as if she was going
to attack her, so the other
driver said she hit. the
driver. The other driver
also said they exchanged
blows until she threw the
driver onto the ground.
Barkley told the two
drivers that, they each
used bad judgment and
instructed them to call
law enforcement, next,
time they are involved
in a road rage situation.
Barkley then cited both
drivers for disorderly con
duct..
Man charged
with stealing
shopper’s wallet
at Walmart
A 70-year-old white
Forsyth man was arrest
ed and charged with theft,
of lost, or mislaid property
after he allegedly stole
a customer’s wallet, at.
the Forsyth Walmart. on
Feb. 15. According to the
incident, report., at. about.
2:04 p.m., Sgt.. David
Asbell of the Forsyth
Police Department, went,
to the Forsyth Walmart.,
where a male customer
told Asbell he dropped
his wallet, in Walmart.
and didn’t, realize it. until
he went, outside to his
vehicle. The customer
said he notified a female
employee who said anoth
er man had taken the
customer’s wallet, from
her and walked out. of
the store. The employee
then helped the customer
identify the other man
in the parking lot.. The
other man admitted he
had the customer’s wallet,
and returned it. to him.
However, the customer
checked his wallet, and
noticed $65 was missing
from it.. The customer
said he then confronted
the other man a second
time and he returned $45
to him. The other man
then admitted to Asbell
he had taken the wallet,
from the employee and
removed money from
it.. Asbell then took the
other man to the Monroe
County Jail.
Deputy responds
to Blount Road
home after man
found deceased
At. about. 9:47 a.m.
on Feb. 5, Dep. Robert.
Rodgers went, to a Blount.
Road home about, a male
resident, who had been
found dead. Monroe
County EMTs told
Rodgers the resident, was
on a couch in the living
room. A female witness
told Rodgers she last,
saw the resident, on Feb.
2 but. said her husband
had a missed call on his
phone from the resident,
at about 2:30 p.m. on
Feb. 3. The witness said
she went, to the resident’s
home at. about. 6:30 a.m.
that, morning to pick him
up for work but. said the
resident, did not. answer
the door or his phone.
The witness said she
returned to the resident’s
home at. about. 9:40 a.m.
and discovered the back
door was unlocked. The
witness said she then
entered the home and
found the resident, dead
on the couch at. which
point, she called the sher
iff’s office. The witness
said the resident, was
an alcoholic who also
smoked marijuana. The
case was then turned
over to Inv. Rhonda
Seckinger.
Cruiser driver
reports student’s
orange strikes
windshield
At about 4:04 p.m. on
Feb. 16, a Forsyth man
told Dep. Holly Martinage
that, he was in his yellow
Toyota FJ Cruiser waiting
to turn into a store park
ing lot on High Falls Road
when a school bus was
turning onto Buck Creek
Road. The man said a
student, on the school
bus threw an orange out.
of the bus window, hit
ting the windshield of his
vehicle. The man said
there was no damage to
his vehicle.
Forsyth man
escapes mental
hospital after
going missing
At. about. 9:10 p.m.
on Feb. 20, Sgt, Willie
Brown was notified by
Lt, Lawson Bittick that,
a Forsyth man was miss
ing and suicidal. Deputies
later found the missing
man at. about. 11 p.m.
in the area of Industrial
Blvd. off of Hwy. 18 after
pinging the man’s Verizon
Wireless cell phone.
Bittick then took the
man to Macon’s Coliseum
Hospital for treatment,
Then, at. about. 1:30 a.m.
on Feb. 21, dispatchers
notified Brown that, the
man had walked out. of
the hospital. Brown again
pinged the man’s cell
phone and determined he
was on the Gray Highway
in Macon. When Brown
tried to track the man’s
cell phone a third time, he
was not. able to determine
his whereabouts.
Flovilla woman
reports vehicle
stolen from lot
of Welcome Mart
At. about. 10:25 a.m.
on Feb. 18, a Flovilla
woman told Officer Bruce
Hughley of the Forsyth
Police Department, that,
her blue 2008 Honda
Accord was stolen from
the parking lot. of the
Welcome Mart, on South
Jackson Street, at. about.
8:30 p.m. on Feb. 17. The
woman said she parked
in front, of the store and
left, her car with the
keys inside of it. while
she went, inside. The
woman said when she
returned, her car was
gone. The woman said
she and her husband
then rode around looking
for it, and she received
reports of it. being spot
ted near Martin Luther
King Drive. However, the
woman said she didn’t
find her car and decided
to notify law enforce
ment. the following day.
Then, at. about. 4:59 p.m.
on Feb. 18, the woman
called Hughley back and
told him that, a male
Jones Street, resident, had
located her car and taken
it. back to his house. The
woman said she didn’t
want, to prosecute the
suspect, said nothing
was missing from the
car and said there was
no damage to the car.
The resident, refused to
tell Hughley where he
found the car and said
he helped locate the car
because the woman’s hus
band was like a father
to him. The woman then
returned home in her car.
Resident reports
garage gas leak
from propane
tank, open grill
At about 1:09 p.m. on
Feb. 16, a female Cross
Creek Circle resident, told
Deps. Christian Sawley
and Timothy Campfield
there was a strong odor
in her garage stemming
from a grill and propane
tank that, were open and
leaking gas. The resident,
said he thinks her son
whom she has a restrain
ing order against., may
be responsible, but. the
resident, found no sign of
forced entry.
