Forsyth driver
arrested after
deputy finds
MDMA in pocket
A 28-year-old black
Forsyth man was arrested
and charged with posses
sion of a controlled sub
stance with intent to dis
tribute after a traffic stop
on North Phelps Street
on Feb. 15. At about 4:51
p.m., Dep. Jacob Robins
saw a blue 1995 Cadillac
Deville in which the male
driver was not wearing
his seatbelt traveling on
North Lee Street. Robins
stopped the vehicle on
North Phelps Street and
smelled marijuana com
ing from the vehicle, but
the driver denied hav
ing any drugs. Cpl. John
Thompson then checked
the driver’s pants pock
ets and found a small,
clear bag containing 39
multi-colored tablets that
were suspected MDMA
(Ecstasy) as well as $854
in cash. The driver told
Robins the drugs were
for personal use and said
he was just headed to
his grandmother’s house.
Robins then took the driv
er to the Monroe County
Jail, and the MDMA was
sent to the GBI crime
lab for identification. The
driver was also charged
with failure to wear seat-
belt.
Warner Robins
man threatens
suicide, arrested
at Forsyth motel
A 30-year-old white
Warner Robins man was
arrested and charged
with first degree cruelty
to children after he alleg
edly threatened to commit
suicide in front of his chil
dren at the New Forsyth
Inn on Feb. 15. At about
1:36 a.m., Dep. Kemeyan
Colvard met with a
woman at the intersection
of High and Rocky Creek
roads who said she had
gotten into an argument
with her husband. The
woman said she tried to
get her children out of
her husband’s vehicle but
her husband accelerated
and left with her children.
Colvard determined the
husband was wanted
for a probation viola
tion and found him at a
room at the New Forsyth
Inn on North Frontage
Road. Colvard and
Officer Kimberly Barnett
of the Forsyth Police
Department knocked on
the room door, but the
husband refused to open
it. After trying several
more times to enter, the
deputies heard the hus
band scream, “I’m going
to kill myself.” Colvard
then backed away from
the door and called Sgt.
Jarred Duncan for back
up. The woman said her
husband did not have a
gun but did have a knife.
The Sheriffs Emergency
Response Team then
arrived and arrested the
husband without incident.
Cpt.. John Thompson
took the woman and her
children to meet with
Department of Family
and Children’s Services
officials, who allowed the
woman to keep possession
of her children until a per
manent solution could be
found. The husband was
also charged with obstruc
tion.

arrested after
marijuana found
during 1-75 stop

on 1-75 North on Feb.
15. At about 12:50 p.m.,
Dep. Cody Maples saw

Citizen urges
commissioners to add
daytime noise ordinance

White Oak Lane resident Mitchell
Miller urged commissioners on
Tuesday, Feb. 6 to consider adding a
daytime noise restriction to its ordi
nance.
Miller said a neighboring property
owner fires assault rifles sometimes
for hours at a time on a vacant lot
that, abuts Miller’s property.
“If there’s no consideration as to
the level of noise in the daytime,
then legally I can fire a ceremonial
cannon or throw a stick of dyna
mite on my property,” Miller said.
‘There’s got to be some limit as to
what people can do.”
County administrator Anita Buice,
who said Miller’s property is zoned
agricultural, said Miller’s complaint
should fall under the county’s dis
turbing the peace law, which applies
24 hours a day, 7 days a week and
not just at night, time.

Ambrose recommended Miller
attend the next. Monroe County
Planning & Zoning board meeting
scheduled for 6 p.m. on Monday,
Feb. 26 to petition P & Z about, mak
ing changes to the county’s zoning
ordinance.

left, lane of 1-75 North
near mile marker 185.
Dispatchers determined
the female driver’s license
was suspended, and the
driver’s eyes began to
water as if she was going
to cry. The driver, who
appeared very nervous,
said she was coming back
from a job interview in
Dooly County. Maples
then searched the car
and found two plastic
Walmart. bags in the
rear passenger seat.. One
bag contained a large
quantity of electrical tape
balls while the other bag
had two clear vacuum-
sealed sacks of marijuana.
When Maples asked the
driver about, the items,
she said she wanted her
lawyer and began to cry.
Maples then found inside
the car an envelope with
a mailing address for
Dooly State Prison with
a male inmate’s name on
it.. He also found a letter
under the bags with the
driver’s middle name as
its title. While Maples
took the driver to the
Monroe County Jail, she
asked him if she was in
a lot. of trouble. Maples
told her she could be in
trouble for taking drugs
to a boyfriend or pen pal
in prison, but. the driver
said the inmate was actu
ally her cousin. Once at.
the jail, Maples dumped
tobacco and rolling papers
out. from inside the taped
balls and destroyed it. He
then entered the mari
juana into evidence. The
driver was also charged
with impeding the flow of
traffic and driving while
license suspended.
Hwy. 87 resident
reports unknown
man screaming
on front lawn
At about 10:52 p.m. on
Feb. 15, a male Hwy. 87
resident, told Dep. Perry
Fitzgerald and Cpl. Jake
Justice he was inside his
home when he heard a
man on his front lawn
shouting. The resident,
said he went, outside to
investigate when the man
started yelling at. him
claiming to be a member
of Hell’s Angels and say
ing the resident, owed him
money. The resident, said
he showed a baseball bat.
to defend himself, and the
man ran off. The resident.,
who said he was unfamil
iar with the man, said the
man had long blond hair,
was clean shaven and was
wearing a sleeveless shirt,
or vest.. Fitzgerald and
Justice searched nearby
homes but. were unable to
find the suspect..
Driver charged
with DUI after
traffic stop on
Johnstonville Rd.
A 25-year-old Hispanic
Hapeville man was
arrested and charged with
DUI after a traffic stop
on Johnstonville Road on
Feb. 18. At. about. 7 a.m.,
Dep. Cody Maples was
notified by dispatchers
to be on the lookout, for
a red 2002 Honda Civic
traveling recklessly on
1-75 South. Maples spot
ted the car exit. 1-75 at.
Johnstonville Road, where
it. stopped at. the stop
sign at. the top of the exit,
ramp. Maples saw the car
had smoke coming out.
of it. as if it. was running
hot., and the male driver
was slumped in his seat,
as if he had fallen asleep.
Maples smelled the odor
of alcohol coming from the
car, and the driver said
he didn’t, speak English.
Instead of displaying a
license, the driver handed
Maples his Mexican voter
registration card. As the
driver, who had blood
shot. eyes and droopy
eyelids, exited his car,
he stumbled and had to
hold on to his door to keep
from falling. The driver,
who said he was headed
to Macon for work, then
refused to take any field
sobriety tests, shrugging
as if he didn’t, under
stand. While en route to
the Monroe County Jail,
Maples saw the driver
had fallen asleep in his
patrol car. The driver was
also charged with having
no seat, belt., reckless driv
ing and having no valid
license. A female witness
later told Maples she was
behind the car for about.
10 to 15 minutes and saw
it. failing to maintain its
lane. The witness said
the car was traveling so
erratically that, several
other drivers turned their
flashers on and drove at.
a slow pace to alert, other
drivers and avoid getting
hit. by the car.
Deputy responds
to home on Spear
Rd. after resident
found deceased
At about 9:26 p.m. on
Feb. 16, Dep. Kemeyan
Colvard went, to a Spear
Road home where a
man said he found the
male resident., his friend,
deceased. The man said
the resident, has been
taken to the hospital two
days earlier by ambulance
due to stomach pains. The
man, who said he then
brought, the resident, his
prescribed medication
the previous day, said he
tried to contact, the resi
dent. several times that,
day and had not. gotten
an answer. The man said
he then stopped by to
check on the resident, and
found him dead. Colvard
saw the resident, sitting
in a chair slumped over.
The resident., whose face,
hands and feet, were dis
colored, appeared to have
been dead for several
hours. Colvard saw sev
eral prescription bottles,
some empty and others
nearly empty, lying on a
table in close proximity
to the resident’s body. He
also saw several empty
beer cans throughout, the
home. The case was then
turned over to Sgt.. Jarred
Duncan.
Kingswood Drive
resident reports
theft of truck
from driveway
At. about. 8:06 a.m.
on Feb. 15, a male
Kingswood Drive resident,
told Dep. Jacob Robins
he noticed his red 1987
Chevrolet. R10 custom
deluxe truck was missing
when he went, to leave
his home at. about. 7:30
a.m. that, morning. The
resident, said he and his
wife went, to bed at. about.
10 p.m. the previous night,
and his truck was still in
the driveway at. the time.
The resident, said the
truck keys were inside
his home, but. the truck
was left, unlocked. The
resident, said the truck’s
interior is burgundy, and
it has a $400 Kenwood
radio with Kicker speak
ers, a black plate with a
gold Chevrolet, emblem on
the front, bumper, a six-
cylinder motor with dual
exhaust, and tailpipes
with chrome tips. The res
ident. said the truck does
not. have any dents on it.,
and it. is valued at. about.
$10,000. The resident’s
wife told Robins she saw
a small white or silver car
stop in front, of their home
on the morning of either
Feb. 13 or Feb. 14. The
resident’s wife said the
same car has also passed
by her home slowly in the
afternoon.
Hwy. 87 woman
reports radio
stolen from
husband’s truck
At about 11:10 p.m. on
Feb. 13, a female Hwy. 87
resident, told Dep. Robert.
Rodgers that, numerous
items had been stolen
out. of the back of her
husband’s truck while
he was incarcerated in
the Monroe County Jail.
The resident, said her
daughter-in-law heard
noises coming from the
truck at about 5:40 a.m.

dent’s husband said the
stolen items included: a
Clarion touchscreen radio,
a 12-inch Kicker subwoof
er, a Rockford Fosgate
1,000-watt, amplifier, a
California 500-wat.t. ampli
fier, a new front, bumper,
a pair of headlights and
blinkers, a black Snap On
tool chest, containing sev
eral tools and a Snap On
diagnostic computer. The
stolen items were valued
at. about. $10,575.
Deputy locates
plastic pot bag
hidden between
passenger’s legs
A 20-year-old black
Detroit., Mich, man was
arrested and charged with
possession of marijuana
with intent, to distribute
after a traffic stop on
1-75 South on Feb. 14. At.
about. 12:01 a.m., Dep.
Kemeyan Colvard saw a
white 2001 Honda Civic
with a tag light, violation
and tinted taillights trav
eling on 1-75 South near
mile marker 186. Colvard
smelled a strong odor of
marijuana coming from
inside the car, and both
the female driver and the
male passenger admit
ted to having smoked
marijuana several hours
before the stop. Colvard
then asked the passen
ger to shake the inside
of his pants t.o insure he
wasn’t, hiding anything.
The passenger refused
at which point Colvard
told him he was going
to search him. Colvard
then found a large plastic
Ziploc bag between the
passengers’s legs, which
contained three ounces of
marijuana. Colvard and
Officer Wade Kendrick
of the Forsyth Police
Department, then tried to
arrest, the passenger, but.
he resisted. Therefore,
Colvard took the pas
senger to the ground and
handcuffed him.
Savannah man
arrested after
running across
1-75 during stop
A 36-year-old black
Savannah man was
arrested and charged with
fleeing and attempting to
elude after he ran from
a Monroe County deputy
following an 1-75 South
traffic stop on Feb. 12.
At. about. 8:12 p.m., Dep.
Kemeyan Colvard saw
the male driver of a black
2018 Chevrolet. Malibu
not. wearing his seat. belt,
and failing to maintain
his lane on 1-75 South
near mile marker 185.
Colvard tried to stop the
car, but. the driver drove
through the grass at. the
Exit. 185 ramp as if try
ing to escape. Colvard
then saw the car hit. a
guardrail at. which point,
the driver, wearing blue
jeans and a white t.-shirt.,
exited the car and took off
on foot. Colvard then saw
the driver run back down
to 1-75 South and dart,
across all lanes of traffic
on the southbound side.
He then jumped the medi
an barrier and ran across
all lanes of traffic on the
northbound side before
Colvard lost, sight, of him.
Deputies then patrolled
the area for about, an hour
and were unable to locate
the suspect.. Colvard then
searched the car and
found a small amount, of
marijuana in the glove
compartment.. Several
hours later, dispatchers
notified Colvard that, the
driver had been spotted
walking on 1-75 South.
When Colvard pulled
up alongside the driver,
he again fled across the
interstate, where he was
eventually captured near
the woods on 1-75 North.
Dispatchers determined
the driver was wanted for
larceny out. of Savannah.
Colvard then took the
driver to the Monroe
County Jail, where he
was also charged with
reckless conduct, and fail
ure to maintain lane.
Burglar caught
stealing balls,
clubs from golf
course on Feb. 13
A 29-year-old white
Macon man was arrested
and charged with burglary
after he allegedly stole
golf equipment, from The
Brickyard Golf Club on
Feb. 13. At. about. 2:05
a.m., Dep. Kemeyan
Colvard went, to The
Brickyard Golf Club on
Wesleyan Drive North
about, an alarm going off
as well as a suspicious
vehicle in the area. When
Colvard arrived, he saw
a white 2005 Volvo V50
failing to dim its head
lights while traveling
away from the course. He
then stopped the vehicle
on Riverside Drive, and
dispatchers determined
the male driver, who did
not. have a license on him,
had an arrest, warrant, out.
of Bibb County. Colvard
saw there were several
golf clubs and balls with
price stickers still on them
on the vehicle’s back seat..
Colvard then witnessed
the driver try to hide the
items on the floorboard
at. which point, he told the
driver to exit, the vehicle.
The driver denied coming
from the golf course but.
then said his girlfriend,
who is the course’s shop
manager, knew he had the
clubs and balls. The driver
then urged Colvard to call
his girlfriend to verify his
story. Colvard called the
girlfriend, but. she instead
told him she did not. know
the driver had the items
and said he didn’t, have
permission to be at. the
course. The course’s female
manager then arrived at.
the scene and checked the
inside of the golf shop. The
manager determined that,
about. $1,000 had been
taken from a desk drawer
of an office at. the club and
numerous golf items were
stolen. The stolen items
included: eight, sleeves of
Titleist. Pro V1X balls, 16
sleeves of Titleist. Pro VI
balls, five Vokey wedges,
one Titleist. fairway wood
and two Titleist. drivers.
Colvard then searched the
driver’s car and found the
stolen items as well as a
set. of keys to the golf club’s
offices. The stolen items
were valued at. about.
$3,557. Colvard then took
the driver to the Monroe
County Jail.
