March 1. Rec department em
ployee Robert Harrison told Ruiz

of the players, confronted

game because he thought his
grandsons team had been
cheated. Harrison said he

ness out of the building, but Hark
ness became increasingly hostile
toward Morey and rec department

A Macon man is charged with
threatening to kill a Monroe
County Recreation Depart
ment referee after
his grandsons rec
basketball game on
March 1.
James Harkness,
58, was charged
with disorderly
conduct and crimi
nal trespass and also
banned from the Monroe
County Recreation Department as
a result of his alleged actions.

School Athletic League (CGMSAL) title and
finished the season unbeaten on Monday
with a penalty-kick victory over Lamar

board gave superintendent
Dr. Mike Hickman a 3-year
contract extension through
2021 at
a called
meeting
on Tues
day, March
20.
The
board
sum
moned all
top ad HICKMAN
ministra-
tors for the
meeting including assistant
superintendents, chief tech
nology officer, director of
financial services, facilities
director, director of student
services and principals.
After a closed door ses
sion, the board approved
personnel actions on its
‘blue sheet’ and approved
offering Superintendent Dr.
Mike Hickman a three-year
extension of contract from
July 1,2018 to June 30,
2021.
There was no open
discussion of personnel
or of the superintendent’s
contract. Hickman thanked
