KADEN
Continued from Front
his father in Lizella and
had only recently moved in
with his mother and step
father.
The Rev. Brian Moore,
chaplain for the Monroe
County sheriff’s office, was
summoned to the scene to
comfort family members
and law enforcement re
sponding to the tragedy.
Shackelford said there
had been some family
disagreements prior to the
boy’s death. Steve Whit
son, whose son was close
to Kaden, posted on the Re
porter’s Facebook page that
contrary to some Facebook
speculation, the suicide had
nothing at all to do with
school bullying.
Kaden’s fifth-grade teach
er when he attended T.G.
Scott Elementary School,
Marie Moore, said she was
heart-broken.
“He had a really sweet
heart and truly cared about
his classmates,” said Moore.
“He tried to have a tough
exterior, but he had a very
tender heart. He had a
smile that melted your
heart. I will always remem
ber him wearing boots, no
matter the season!”
Moore said Kaden was a
“ladies man” as well.
“There were always girls
chasing after him on the
playground,” said Moore,
“but he didn’t ask for that
attention.”
Moore remembered once
she spelled his name wrong,
but Kaden was sweet and
said something like, “Mrs.
Moore, I know you know
how to spell my name....
come on....really???”
“He will always have a
special place in our hearts,”
said Moore, “I just wish he
had known how much he
was loved!”
Monroe County Middle
School principal Dr. Efrem
Yarber said it’s been hard
on the school.
“Kaden was one of our
students, so he was a
member of our family”
said Yarber. “All of us are
grieving this loss as we keep
Kaden’s friends and his
family in our thoughts and
prayers. He was a friend to
many of our students and
he will be sorely missed.”
Kaden’s funeral will be
held today, Wednesday,
April 25 at 2 p.m. at Mabel
White Baptist Church in
Macon.
