Forsyth teen artist Liz
Johnston is inviting the
community to swing by
the Conley Building next
to the old railroad depot
on Saturday, May 12 from
5-8 p.m. to check out her
artwork.
Johnston, a rising junior
at Mary Persons High
School, will be hosting
her first art show entitled
“Making My Mark”. She
will be displaying her
work, everything from
sculpture to paintings,
and will also be offering
drinks and refreshments.
Johnston, whose fam
ily is known nationwide
through its reality TV
show “The 7 Little John
stons”, said art has been
a passion since she was
little.
“I was always that kid
that stayed in between
the lines when coloring
pages,” said Johnston.
Johnston takes her
hobby so seriously that
she has her own studio
at the family’s Forsyth
home. Her mom Amber
Johnston said that Liz is
the stereotypical artist
who seems to thrive on
creativity, and on making
big messes in pursuit of
her latest masterpiece.
“We got her an apron,”
joked Mrs. Johnston.
“She’s perfect in art, but
other parts of her living,
well.....”
Johnston said she sup
poses she inherited her
talents, in part, from her
dad, who loves to work
with his hands and always
encouraged her to paint
when she was a kid.
Not only will Saturday’s
art show give guests a
chance to see Liz’s talents,
but patrons will have the
opportunity to buy some
of her work. Proceeds will
go to Save-A-Pet, Monroe
County’s no-kill animal
shelter in Juliette.

Clarification
In the article entitled House

House District 141 candi
date Dale Washburn was
listed as being a Jones
County real estate agent.
Washburn should have been
listed as a Bibb County real

grew up in Jones County,
where he formerly served
as a Jones County commis
sioner. However, Washburn
has lived in Bibb County for
more than 20 years.
