with his ex-wife and her
boyfriend at Brentwood

Forsyth officers were
dispatched to Apt. 422
upon reports that Mr.

his ex-wife, Zakia Gibson,

think of Monroe County as
home.
When I moved to Mon
roe County in fourth grade,
I thought my parents were
crazy. “There’s no movie
theater?” 10-year-old me
was dumbfounded. Why
would we move some
where with no movie the
ater? Little did I know that
moving here was one of the
best things to ever happen
tome.
In many movies, we hear
that living in small towns
is a waste of potential and
success is only achievable
in big cities. Monroe Coun
ty proves them wrong. I’ve
received one of the best
public educations available
in the state of Georgia at
Monroe County Schools.
Also, small businesses
prosper in Monroe County
because of the community’s
constant support.
One of the most charm
ing qualities of Monroe
County is the consistent
support and sense of fel
lowship that flows through
the county like a river.
Here, the biggest public
outings are football games.
It’s bittersweet to see people
from all over the county
come root for the Bulldogs
every Friday in the Fall.
In any store, restaurant or
church in Monroe County,
I always find a friendly face.
They ask about my family
and school, and I always
feel welcome.
While Monroe County
isn’t the most populated or
largest county, I believe it
is the most loving and best.
Monroe County has pro
vided me with an amazing
education, a community of
supporters and a wonder
ful place to call home. I
wouldn’t trade my time
spent here for anything.

MORE COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT IN THE
LOCATION OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING.
Gary Bechtel knows that the threat of unrestrained housing growth will
diminish the character of many neighborhoods in Monroe County. He
will fight for more community input into decisions on location of
affordable housing developments financed through the Georgia Dept,
of Community Affairs. Affordable housing is a need for many but it is
not consistent with the suburban growth that has taken place in
Monroe County over the last 25 years.
