Navy & Gray
Designs wants to
make your space
more appealing
By Diane Glidewell
news@mymcncom
Lindsey Childs can look
at a room as it is and see
it as it could be at its best.
Having transformed living
and working spaces for
herself, her family and oth
ers, she found that she has
a talent for design and has
developed the professional
knowledge and local con
nections with contractors
to bring visions to reality
Childs launched Navy &
Gray Designs as the busi
ness through which patrons
may access her services.
She describes Navy &
Gray Designs as home stag
ing and interior decorating
for real people because
homes should be comfort
able, organized, beauti
ful, unique places. Childs
opened the business last
November and held the
official ribbon cutting at the
Forsyth-Monroe County
Chamber of Commerce on
May 8. It was attended by
friends, family members,
local leaders and members
of the Chamber, who have
a special affinity for Childs
not only because of her
talents but also because she
previously worked at the
Chamber as event coordina
tor.
“I met great people work
ing at the Chamber,” said
Childs.
She is certified through
Home Staging Resource as
a professional home stager
and is a member of the Real
Estate Staging Associa
tion (RESA), the national
organization for real estate
stagers. As an example of
the difference that profes
sional home staging can
make in selling a property,

weeks it was on the market.
The owners received four
offers and there was a bid
ding war that resulted in a
sale for over the listed price
in less than 30 days. Childs
said the average length of
time on market is 125 days.
Childs said that staging
means focusing on assets
and minimizing the nega
tive. The three top rooms
are the kitchen, living room
and master bedroom. On
the Navy & Gray Designs
Facebook page, Childs
offers tips, tools, ideas
and some Do-It-Yourself
projects targeted at work
ing moms. It can help them
gauge whether they are
ready for more extensive
renovations.
Childs’ husband, David,
said that she staged her first
home when they wanted
to get out of a lease on
an apartment in Florida.
“When she finished, I had
second thoughts about leav
ing,” he said. More recently,
the couple bought a fore
closure and she renovated it
inside and out. She enjoyed
the project so much that
she talked of doing it again;
David encouraged her to
do it for others because he
didn’t want to move.
Childs said the first step
for someone ready to
update a home is to contact
her at 706-553-1205 or
hello@navyandgraydesigns.
com for a consultation to
define what kind of change
you want and create a plan,
whether for a do-it-yourself
project or a complete design
by Navy & Gray. Home
staging for sales is done for
both vacant and occupied
sites. Childs said her goal is
like a wedding day, where
everything is picture perfect.
Staging for the right buyer
creates a win for everyone—
The seller gets the best price
in the shortest time, the
buyer gets a great starting
point with a new invest
ment, and the community
keeps property values up
and attracts investors.

ON THE SQUARE
Trey is a native Georgia boy
raised listening to the poetic vibe
of southern rock, traditional rock,
and the many indigenous blues
artists that bestow Macon with its musical soul. Trey began experimenting with
his new guitar with tunes from Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Allman Brothers, mixed
up with David Allen Cole, Garth Brooks, Eric Church, Jason Aldean and a little
Hank. Eventually these ingredients became the recipe for the unique sound of
purely Trey Teem.
