ROBBERS
INCIDENT REPORTS . JUNE 27, 2018
The following incidents were reported by the
Monroe County Sheriffs Office June 12-20.
Deputies locate
methamphetamine
bag in driver’s
front pants pocket
A 54-year-old white
Forsyth woman was arrest
ed and charged with pos
session of methamphet
amine after a traffic stop
on Smith Road on June
20. At about 4:52 p.m.,
Cpl. John Thompson and
Dep. William Miller saw
a black 2008 Ford F-150
with dark window tint fail
to stop at a stop sign at
the intersection of Collier
Road and Smith Road.
Deputies smelled the odor
of alcohol coming from
inside the truck, and the
female driver appeared
extremely nervous, includ
ing twitching cheek
muscles. The driver told
deputies she had taken her
ex-husband to town to get
more tequila. However,
the driver, who was shak
ing, denied drinking any
alcohol nor taking any
drugs. Thompson then
saw a small bulge in the
drivers right front pants
pocket and ordered her to
empty her pockets. The
driver then emptied her
left pocket all the way but
only emptied her right
pocket about halfway.
When Thompson told her
to empty the right pocket
fully as well, the driver
then grabbed a clear bag
out of her right pocket and
put it behind her back.
Thompson then ordered
her to hand him the bag,
but the driver replied,
“I don’t know what you
mean.” Thompson then
forced the driver up
against his patrol car, caus
ing her to drop the bag.
Thompson then picked up
the bag and determined
it had methamphetamine
inside of it. The driver told
Thompson she got the
drugs in a shop the previ
ous day. The driver was
then taken to the Monroe
County Jail, where she was
also charged with failure
to stop at a stop sign and
failure to maintain lane.
Gose Road man
reports theft of
tools, valued at
$2,200, from barn
At about 4:30 p.m. on
June 17, a male Gose Road
resident told Dep. Cody
Maples that he went to
his barn to get some tools
and noticed that they were
missing. The resident, who
found his barn door par
tially open, said he had not
been to the barn in several
weeks and did not know
when they were stolen.
The stolen items included:
a Milwaukee impact
wrench, a Craftsman
tool box, assorted tools,
six Milwaukee batteries,
a Stihl chainsaw, a Stihl
weedeater and drill batter
ies. The stolen items were
valued at about $2,200.
Whispering Pines
resident charged
after striking man
with wooden chair
A 45-year-old white
Macon man was arrested
and charged with disor
derly conduct after he
allegedly struck another
man with a chair at a
personal care home on
Hwy. 41 South on June 18.
At about 6:19 p.m., Dep.
Tyler Rodgers went to
Whispering Pines on Hwy.
41 South where a male
resident, who was wheel
chair bound, said another
male resident picked up
a chair and hit him twice
with it. The resident, who
said he was talking to
another person when the
incident occurred, said
he was hit on the right
leg, right arm and head.
Rodgers saw the resident
had a visible injury on his
right knee. Rodgers then
met with a female nurse,
who said the resident was
yelling and cursing at the
other resident, threatening
to kill him, at which point
the other resident picked
up the chair and hit the
resident twice. The other
resident told Rodgers he
hit the resident twice with
a wooden chair after the
resident began moving
toward him after threaten
ing to kill him. Rodgers
then took the other
resident to the Monroe
County Jail.
Carriage Way
residents report
fraudulent car
loan in California
At about 11:14 a.m. on
June 18, a female Carriage
Way resident told Sgt.
Kevin Williams that while
shopping at about 10 a.m.
that morning her hus
band received a phone
call from PNC Bank in
Pennsylvania asking about
a $40,000 car loan that
was being processed in
California in her husbands
name. The resident said
PNC Bank then verified
that her husband did not
request the loan and dis
continued the transaction.
The resident said she then
notified their banks and
identity theft protection
services about the matter.
High-speed chase
starts on 1-75
South, ends with
East Macon arrest
A 46-year-old white
Arcadia, Fla. man was
arrested and charged
with felony fleeing and
attempting to elude after
a high-speed chase that
began on 1-75 South in
Monroe County on June
20. At about 12:33 a.m.,
Cpl. Thomas Haskins was
notified by Cpl. Wade
Kendrick of the Forsyth
Police Department of a
white 2000 Suzuki 1000
motorcycle traveling 120
mph on 1-75 South near
mile marker 186. When
Haskins tried to stop the
motorcycle, it instead
accelerated to speeds
exceeding 150 mph.
Haskins chased after the
motorcycle, which made
multiple lane changes
without signaling and
weaved in and out of traf
fic. Haskins then pursued
the motorcycle into Bibb
County, where the motor
cycle exited at Arkwright
Road. The motorcycle
then failed to stop at three
red lights prior to turning
left onto Northside Drive.
The motorcycle performed
a “wheelie” before turn
ing right onto Riverside
Drive continuing toward
downtown Macon. The
motorcycle eventually
turned left onto Spring
Street and then right onto
Emory St. before getting
back onto Gray Highway,
where it drove through
a Walgreens parking
lot before turning onto
Shurling Drive. After trav
eling on Shurling Drive
in excess of 100 mph,
the motorcycle turned
left onto Wedgewood
Avenue and then left onto
Bethune Avenue, driv
ing through several front
yards and several bushes.
Eventually the motorcycle
tried to drive between
two homes and ran into a
fence at which point the
male driver took off on
foot and jumped over a
fence, falling onto an air
conditioning unit. Haskins
then jumped the fence as
well and took the driver
to the ground, where the
driver blurted, “I give up.”
Bibb County deputies then
helped Haskins handcuff
the driver. The driver said
repeatedly, “I’m such an
idiot. I knew I shouldn’t
have run, but I was com
mitted.” The driver also
stated: “I just thought
you guys would give up
because I was untouch
able.” The driver was also
charged with obstruc
tion, speeding, failure to
maintain lane, failure to
use turn signal, reckless
driving, driving without
a motorcycle license,
improper tag display,
driver to exercise due care,
following too closely, pass
ing in the same lane as
another vehicle and affix
ing tag to misrepresent or
conceal.
The following arrests were reported by the Monroe County Sheriffs Office June 14-21.
