ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN by Don Daniel
Movie previews an
offense to the senses
T he other day, after completing some
homestead work, I decided to reward my
self by going to a movie. Of course there
were no movie times in the local daily
paper so I went to the internet and found a movie,
“Dunkirk”. I had enough time to jump in the
shower and head out to the movie house. Arriving
with 15 minutes ‘til show time, the ticket, popcorn
and drink tore up a $20 bill, I was almost alone in
the theater.
I should have known better than to be in a hurry
to get to the movie. For the next 20 minutes, the
up and coming previews took me by surprise with
the violence supposed to create and generate fu
ture ticket sales for coming attractions.
If our teens and young adults are attracted to the
movies now on the big screen, it becomes obvi
ous many are attempting to live the lifestyle in
the movies. I explain: Here are the descriptions I
later found on the internet of the movies that were
showing or upcoming: “for language, drug use and
some content”, “Horror violence disturbing im
ages, language, drug use and brief graphic nudity”;
“Crude sexual content, language, drug, use, teen
drinking and brief graphic nudity”; “Violence,
menace, bloody images, sexual references and
brief strong language”; and, “Sexual material, drug
content and partying”.
I had to sit through those previews just wonder
ing who wants to see those kinds of movies.
I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised. Televi
sion is mimicking the movies or vice versa. The
great thing about TV watching is being able to
change the channel. Of
course, if you are offended
by what’s on the big screen,
you can walk out after eat
ing your popcorn. The sad
thing, I strongly believe the
violence that is in the mov
ies and on television has an
indirect if not direct effect
on the actions of many. Just
watch or read the news and
the violence that is re
ported, in my opinion, has
direct consequences.
Let’s change the scenery!
OUR county commissioners voted to allow us to
vote on whether we want alcohol sales to begin at
11 a.m. instead of staying at the present 12:30 p.m.
on Sundays. The vote on the referendum will be
on the November ballot.
Here are some unattributed commissioner com
ments from their meeting last week:
“Correct me if I am wrong”;
“Contract is in black and white”;
“Put K above H”;
“We can arrange that”;
“What I am saying is.....”;
“Have a game plan”;
And this one: “I read the whole thing.”
OVER at the Forsyth City Council, there was
patting each other on the back on the success of
the splash pad. It was voted on for the splash pad
hours to be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Unattributed Council member comments were
rare if not non-existent with only one I heard:
“No, the only thing I have....”
The mayor, council members, city manager
were down in Savannah this past weekend on a
city-paid soiree attending the Georgia Municipal
Association’s annual summer convention. It will
be interesting to know who went and what it cost
Forsyth’s taxpayers.
AGAIN, no correct answer to last week’s The
Question, which was who was named Monroe
County’s Father of the Year? Chip Dunn got the
honor. Here’s The Question for this week: eight
new members were inducted into the Forsyth-
Monroe County Sports Hall of Fame. Name one.
First correct response by noon Thursday receives
the certificate for a Jonah’s cookie, Dairy Queen
Blizzard, Whistle Stop fried green tomato appetiz
er, slice of Shoney’s strawberry pie, dozen Dunkin
Donuts, sandwich, chips and drink from The Pick-
led Okra and a Forsyth Main Street t-shirt.
DIDN’T make to the “swing through” by Gu
bernatorial Candidate Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle’s stop
at the Monroe County Courthouse last week but
understand there were some checks awaiting. I’m
not sure why Candidate Cagle has not made an
issue of his Republican opponent Sec. of State
Brian Kemp’s failure to obey the law and his oath
of office to make a decision on the Monroe-Bibb
County line issue.
As Will reports each week, it has been over 3,000
days since Kemp was ordered to make a decision.
What is amazing to me is how other politicians
support a law-breaker. Guess chickens of the same
feather flock together.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
City needs to find fix for neglected yards
Dear Editor,
I sn’t there a city ordinance about neglected yards
in the city? There are a couple on Main Street that
haven’t seen a mower. Particularly the house on the
corner at MLK Drive. Formerly Tucker house, always
groomed and well kept, now a disgrace. Can’t somebody
do something about this so it doesn’t distract from our
beautiful town? There is another a few houses down that
could use a mower too. Obviously rental houses, but
there’s an owner somewhere.

TAKING A LIKENS TO YOU by Dale Likens
Planned Parenthood covers up rape
A few evenings ago Liz
Wheeler of OAN (One
America News) reported
the following accounts
of actual child sexual abuses in
America today. I had recorded this
newscast and played
back the entire news
report over and over
to make sure I have
written the report
completely accurately
as it was recorded. Ev
ery word I present in
this article is exactly
as was reported.
In the year 2004,
16-year-old Denise
arrived at a Planned
Parenthood facility
in Ohio, pregnant by
her father who had
forced her to share his
bed for three years. Denise told the
Planned Parenthood staff about her
rape, but Planned Parenthood ig
nored her pleas for help and refused
to comply with Ohio’s mandatory
reporting law. They gave her the
abortion and sent her home to her
abusive situation.
In the year 2013, Pennsylvania
Department of Health inspectors
conducted an annual survey of
Philadelphia Planned Parenthood
and discovered that some girls it
saw admitted being sexually active
at the ages of 11 and 12. In at least
six instances, Planned Parenthood
J)a/e. Uif&nS
did not inquire about the possibility
of sexual abuse. Nor did their staff
report these incidents to authorities
as required by law.
In the year 2017 a man named
George Savanah, from the state of
Washington, continu
ally raped his daughter.
When she was 14, 16 and
17 years old his daugh
ter became pregnant.
Each time she became
pregnant, Savanah took
his daughter to Planned
Parenthood for an
abortion to cover up his
crime. Records confirm
this as fact.
Planned Parenthood
repeatedly failed to
report these suspicious
incidents to authorities.
Savanah had raped his
daughter for several times a week
for a total of seven years.
Planned Parenthood supporters
may claim these are false accusa
tions. Regardless of their denial,
these reports are accurate and to
tally unacceptable. One Democratic
supporter of Planned Parenthood
spoke on OAN last week and said
these are “isolated incidences and
since there weren’t enough to indi
cate a pattern they were unworthy
to investigate.”
Yes, these are isolated incidences.
But are we to assume that if it
were only one child who must live
through this horrible tragedy it is
not worthy of our concern? How
sad that we in America can callous
ly sit by and close our eyes, ears, and
tongues to such deplorable, ungodly
situations!
Praise God, Mike Kelly, Pennsyl
vania’s 3rd District Congressman,
is taking a stand to push for an
investigation into such atrocities.
Because of Mike Kelly and a few
other lawmakers, 56 representatives
of the House of Representatives are
now asking for an investigation into
these horrendous, atrocious acts
against our children today. “None
of the 56 lawmakers supporting
this bill are Democrats,” Kelly sadly
declared.
What I have reported is not a con
demnation of all Democrats. I have
only reported that the individual
who spoke so coldheartedly of this
situation was a Democrat. I am sure
many Republicans are just as cold
and indifferent to this act of vio
lence on a few of our children today.
What is the price of one child’s
life? Perhaps I can do very little.
Perhaps you can do little. But to say
nothing about such horrendous acts
would shame me to no end. Perhaps
someone reading this article will be
much more prepared to speak with
a louder voice than I.
May God bless!

OUR VIEW
Austin (not long in) City Limits
Monroe Countys congressman Austin Scott (R-Ashburn) held
his last Town Hall with his constituents in Forsyth (at right) on
Aug. 20, 2014. Scott defeated incumbent Congressman Jim
Marshall in 2010 after Marshall went several years without
hosting a Town Hall meeting with his constituents in Forsyth.
Scott did attend a chamber of commerce event this spring
but did not take questions from constituents and therefore
cannot be considered a town hall meeting. If you want an
opportunity to let Scott know what you want him to do in
Congress, call his Washington office at (202) 225-6531 and
let him know.

Kemp dawdles on county line
When Brian Kemp became secretary of state on Jan. 8, 2010, Terry Scarboroughs
survey of the Monroe-Bibb county line was on his desk. The law says it s his job to
do something with it. But Kemp, an ambitious politician who announced on March
13, 2017 his intention to run for governor, punted. He announced on Aug. 23, 2011
that he was rejecting the Scarborough survey because he can t be sure it s the origi
nal line. Unfortunately, the law gives him no such option. So on March 10, 2014, the
Supreme Court ordered him to set the line and resolve the dispute. That was three
years ago. The Reporter is devoting this space each week to counting the number of
days Kemp has been on the job, and yet not done his job. If you want Kemp to do
the job which hes sought three times before he gets a promotion to governor, call his
office at (404) 656-2817 and let them know.
