Monroe County EMS deputy chief Jason Lott said the boy apparently was lighting a fire with rubbing alcohol trying to replicate a video challenge he had seen on TikTok He suffered second degree burns to his eyes and face. A Lifeflight helicopter landed at the Popes Ferryboat landing and took the boy to Grady Hospital in Atlanta. There was no word on his condition at press time. The home is owned by Randy Scandrett. Last month a 13-year-old girl in Portland, Ore. severely burned her neck and right arm and has had to undergo three skin-grafting surgeries after being burned while reportedly trying to do the so-called TikTok fire challenge. The challenge involves spraying a mirror with flammable liquid in shapes or symbols, and turning the light off before setting fire to it and watching the shapes light up. Here’s what ABC News said about that Oregon incident: based on what they found in the bathroom and after talking to her friends, they believe the seventh grader - who “lived for TikToks,” her mother said — was trying to copy a TikTok video in which someone draws a shape using a flammable liquid on a mirror and then lights it on fire. Destini brought into the bath room a candle, lighter and bottle of rubbing alcohol, which they believe exploded in the poorly ventilated space, setting her and other items on fire, her sister said. When they retrieved Destini’s phone, Tik Tok was still recording video, her mother, Kimberly Crane, told ABC News. GBI raid leads to child porn charges A Forsyth man was charged with six counts of sexual exploitation of children on Thursday after the GBI accused him of having child porn. Anthony Tony Grier, 30, was arrested after a search warrant was served at his home at 228 Samples Road. Griers mother Gwen High told the Reporter that she’s devastated and that her son was selling the videos to support a meth habit he’s had for about three years. She said Grier lives in a camper on her property and the GBI took her son’s phone, tablet and SD card as evidence. Workers erected a new cell phone tower behind the county road department on Montpelier Drive last week. But Cody Dunn of Network Installation Service, left, told the Reporter on Tuesday it’ll be about two more months before equipment arrives allowing them to turn it on. Dunn said the tower will serve a 6-mile radius, covering almost the entire city of Forsyth. Locals have complained for years about a veritable iron dome of poor cell service in Forsyth. By Will Davis publisher@mymcr.net A Forsyth woman told jurors through tears on Tuesday that she was sleeping in her bed when Decorious Davis came into her Forsyth Garden apartment in 2016 and raped her while she was pregnant. Davis, 25, is being tried for rap ing a woman he knew and lived in the same apartment complex five years ago, on July 23,2016. The victim told jurors that at first she thought it was her boyfriend who had come into the apartment that night and began trying to engage her. She said her boyfriend often would have too much to drink and try the same thing “every other night”. She said she realized it wasn’t him when he forcibly raped her and then left the apartment. District attorney Jonathan Adams said Davis at first told authorities he didn’t touch the vic tim. When DNA evidence came back linking him to the rape, he changed his story to claim they had an affair, said Adams. The victim said Davis is a cousin of her boyfriend.
