B. Monroe Boutique
held its ribbon cutting and
grand opening on Oct.
29 as the Forsyth Monroe
County Chamber of Com
merce congratulated owner
Nichole Brewer on her
new store at 19 E. Johnston
Street. B. Monroe carries
womens clothing for sizes
small to 3x as well as acces
sories, jewelry and an array
of gift items.
B. Monroe is Brewers
first brick & mortar build
ing solely dedicated to the
sale of womens clothing,
accessories and gift items,
but it isn’t her first venture
into the business world.
She opened her first salon
in Macon (now located on
Bass Road) in 2008 and
added a salon in Kathleen.
Both salons include bou
tique sections, and Brewer
also sells her popular items
online.
Brewer is a native and
current resident of Monroe
County and says she is
excited to open a location
in her hometown. She
said the response since she
opened on Oct. 1 has been
amazing.
“Forsyth has blown me
away with its support,” she
said. “I am so happy to
grow my roots here even
deeper.”
Originally the ribbon cut
ting for B. Monroe Bou
tique was planned for Oct.
8, but baby Bo Davis Brew
er decided it was time for
his grand appearance, and
he pushed the boutiques
ribbon cutting back three
weeks. He joins sisters
Blake Monroe, 4, and Nora
Jane, 3, in the family of Ni
cole and Steven Brewer. B.

On Saturday evening,
Nov. 20 there will be an
opportunity to enjoy an
evening of first class gospel
music at the Rose Theater
on the square while con
tributing to the Pregnancy
Center of Monroe County,
an organization that has
served the community for
over 30 years. Johnny and
Joy Ham of J&J Record
ing Studio have arranged
a concert to benefit the
Pregnancy Center while
creating a jam-packed
three-hour evening of mu
sic, all for $15 per ticket.
His Way and Southern
Style Quartet will head
line the event while other
talents Daniel Sikes; Mary
Smith; Susan & Kim Brock
with Mark Johnson; Misti
Tomberlin; and John Ham,
Sid Newsome, Nicky
Glover & Phil Bridges will
each perform three songs.
Tickets are available from
Ham at 229-313-2302
before the event and will be
available at the door if not
sold out. He said pre-sales
have been good. Ham said
he likes to organize special
events like this and has
a very special reason for
appreciating the work of
the Pregnancy Center. He
welcomed granddaughter
Blakeleigh to the world five
months ago and knows
the joy a new addition can
bring to a family.
Ham’s daughter, Aleena
Bennett, didn’t have an easy
path in becoming pregnant.
She went through artificial
insemination nine times
without success. She adopt-

the assistance of his wife, Joy, to organize A Hometown

of Monroe County. His 5-month old granddaughter and his
daughters pregnancy struggles were a motivation to help

ed three children and then
had the pleasant surprise of
learning Blakeleigh was on
the way. Her husband has
two children from a previ
ous marriage; so now she
has a busy household of six
children.
Aleena, who lives in
California, will be coming
to the concert and bringing
Blakeleigh. She will give
her testimony during the
concert.
“The Pregnancy Center
is a very worthy organiza
tion,” said Ham. “I’d like to
see this become an annual
event.
He said this is the second
event he has coordinated
at The Rose. He said the
acoustics are good at the
Theater, which combined
with the intimate, comfort
able setting of the venue
creates a good concert
experience.
“It brings the crowd and
performers together,” he
said. “It will be a blessing
for the people there.”
And the blessing of the
“Hometown Gospel Sing”
that begins at 7 p.m. on
Nov. 20 will continue to
spread through the service
of the Pregnancy Center of
Monroe County.
