MONROE COUNTY REPORTER
MACON TENT RENTALS
50 Years in Business
The Monroe County Reporter
was launched by newspaper
man Donald Jackson Daniel,
Jr. in 1972 as Monroe County’s
first total newspaper. It soon
merged with Forsyth’s long
time weekly, The Monroe Ad
vertiser, the newspaper where
famed writer Joel Chandler
Haixis had worked in the late
19th centuiy. In Forsyth, Haixis
learned his trade and rose from
printer’s devil to journalist.
Haixis would go on to become
editor of the Atlanta Consti
tution where he penned his
famed Uncle Remus stories.
The Reporter has established
itself as the premier source of
news and advertising in Mon
roe County. The paper reaches
more than 4,000 homes each
week. In 2007, the Reporter
returned to local ownership
for the first time in more than
a decade when the paper was
purchased by a local corpora
tion owned by Will Davis,
Robert M. Williams Jr., and
Cheiyl S. Williams. Since 2007
the Reporter has won dozens of
awards for journalistic excel
lence and is often thought to be
one of the few growing print
newspapers in the nation.

The idea for Macon Tent Rent
als was born in 1973 when
brothers Bill and Jim Bonbrake
bought a tent for their auction
company. When a friend asked
to borrow their tent, the broth
ers realized they could turn
tent rentals into a business. The
company grew considerably,
and in 1989, Roland Holloway
bought the company. His sons,
Jeff and Mark, grew up at Ma
con Tent Rentals, helping their
father set up tents and expand
the business. It was the vision
and relentless pursuit of excel
lence for over 26 years by which
Roland, the “Chief,” established
the foundation of a lasting
brand. Brian Corrigan and Jeff
Holloway bought the company
on January 1, 2015. Today,
