Lost, but now she’s found
By Steve Reece
and Will Davis
When Lynn Williams of
101 Hilltop Circle in the
Loraine Woods subdivi
sion opened her front
door around 11:30 a.m. on
Tuesday morning, she im
mediately recognized the
scared young lady standing
at the edge of her yard.
It had to be 17-year-old
Jorja Ethridge. She had
been checking her yard and
shed regularly the past 3
days after reading that Eth
ridge had run from a home
in the nearby North Rivoli
Farms subdivision. Wil
liams said the girl looked
terrified and lost and she
was afraid she was going to
take off. She said she simply
called out to her asking if
she could help her. She told
Jorja that she knew she was
tired and cold and that if
she didn’t want her to call
anyone, she wouldn’t. She
asked her to come to talk to
her and let her help.
Jorja told Williams she
was ready to go home but
was concerned about ev
eryone’s reaction. Williams
told her how loved she was,
that so many people were
searching for her and that
her parents were wait
ing for her at the church.
Williams told the girl if she
was ready, she would help
her get home. She told her
that she wasn’t going to be
in trouble and that every
body was so, so worried.
She also told her that if she
goes on Facebook, she will
see how loved she is. Jorja
then asked to go home,
and Williams dialed 911.
They stayed in the yard and
talked while waiting for a
deputy to arrive.
Jorja told Williams she
had been staying in a shed
across the street. She had
apparently found some
tarps to help her keep
warm. Williams said her
neighbors had been check-

doesn’t think Jorja was hid

From there they went to
Mt. Zion Baptist Church to
reunite with her family.
Williams said she had just

door. Williams assumed
she just wanted to go out
side again.
“I started to scold her,”

walked out. At first I didn’t
