Morgan Dudley Harvey
May 28,1953 - January 21, 2022
Morgan Dudley Harvey, a Master
Plumber, gentleman farmer, serial en
trepreneur, and aspiring raconteur and
philosopher, died Jan. 21,2022 on his
beef cattle and pine tree farm in Monroe
County, Ga.
Morgan is survived by his wife, Nancy;
his children, Justin (Emily) and Ansley
(Donny); his sister, Alison; and his grandchildren, Tristan,
Libby, Camden, and Ryals. He is predeceased by his broth
er, Daniel; his father, Harold; and his mother, Rosemary
Morgan was born into the wild, sub-tropical forests of
Central Florida on May 28,1953 as it existed before Walt
Disney ruined it. In the outskirts of Orlando he water-
skied, broke horses, trapped alligators, tag-team wrestled
the neighbor boys along with his brother, terrorized his
sister, learned to love books and western movies, learned
to tell tall tales, defied every authority figure placed in his
way, and developed a steely determination that would
come to define everything about him.
Morgan begrudgingly attended Mercer University at
his parents’ insistence, but could only tolerate it for one
year before leaving to create his own path. Fortunately
for him, Nancy Cole, a beautiful sophomore also from
Orlando, was in attendance and she agreed to join him on
his journey. Together, they created a successful plumbing
business and amassed a large, beautiful farm in south
western Monroe County where Morgan could practice
his favorite hobbies of cattle raising, horseback riding,
gardening, complaining about the government, and wax
ing on enthusiastically about politics, religion, medicine,
the law, the weather, current events, great literature, pulp
fiction, space travel, theoretical physics, American history,
world history, and just about anything else that happened
to cross his mind. Most importantly to Morgan, that farm
was also where he and Nancy raised two children with
the ability and the obligation to take care of themselves,
to take care of the people around them, and to make this
world a better place.
The family will greet visitors at Monroe County Memo

SKEPTICS

cess, Cone said, “Be DIFFERENT! I
tried so hard when I was younger to
look and act just like everyone else.
Today, I try to be as different as pos
sible. In business, people don’t buy
similarities, they buy differences.” His
statement reminded of the philoso
phy of best selling author, pastor and
leadership expert, John Maxwell.
When Maxwell was a young man.
he determined that he wanted to be
“Difference Maker.” He said, “I want
to make a difference with people who
want to make a difference, doing
something that makes a difference.”
ARE YOU called by God to be a
Difference Maker? If so, what dream
has He placed in your heart? What
ever it is, you will face challenges and
setbacks as you pursue it. The devil
will try to sideline you with discour
agement and you will face opposi
tion from people who will ridicule
your aspirations. But never allow the
negativity, jealousy or envy of others
to deter you. Remember you’re the
one willing to put in the long hours to
earn the degree, grow your business,
serve your community or accom
plish worthwhile goals you’ve set for
yourself.
WHEN I was a young woman,
someone said to me, “You will never
be successful. You don’t have what
it takes.” Be careful who you share
your hopes and dreams with, because
some people will pour cold water
on your vision. As you pursue your
dreams, I encourage you to ignore the
skeptics and naysayers. And as Wes
Cone says, “Prove them wrong!”
ONE LAST thought, strive to
honor God in all you do. Set your
focus on the promise found in
Philippians 4:13. This inspiring verse
written by the Apostle Paul says, “I
can do all things through Christ Jesus
who strengthens me.” Give Jesus an “I
CAN” and He will take it and do awe
some things through you that would
otherwise be impossible to achieve in
your own strength!

doesn’t seem nearly as
desirable when you know
that there is no escape at
any point on that acreage,
either indoors or out, from
the noise.
Now I have learned that
the rumble strips were
incorrectly installed. After
I complained to Andy
Doyle, Maintenance En
gineer at the state DOT, I
got him to admit that the
rumble strips were wrongly
installed inside the lines
rather than outside. As a
taxpayer, it angers me that
someone got paid thou
sands of dollars to do such
a pathetic job. He promised
that bids would be let in
February to repave the
road. If you live on Hwy.
83, please contact him at
adoyle@dot.ga.gov ask
ing that the requirements
include the following:
1. All rumble strips will
be sinusoidal rumble strips
which provide needed
warning to drivers without
so much outside noise.
2. Roadway will be
widened enough to al
low strips to be installed
OUTSIDE the edge lines
on the highway. They are
currently inside the lines,
which is another reason
the noise is so common.
3. Only one - not two -
strips will be installed in
the center line.
4. Areas where passing
can occur will be identi
fied and no center strips
will be placed in those
areas so that residents are
not subjected to the noise
of vehicles crossing the
strips twice to pass.
Include your full name
and address in your
email. If your address
is not Highway 83 N,
include how far away
you live or work. Com
