Fatalities linked to crimes

The six Griffin-area men in that fiery, fatal wreck at the
High Falls exit early Sunday morning that killed four of
them are linked to a shooting in Henry County and a rob
bery in Gwinnett County, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Dodge Charger, which had been clocked at 169 mph,
crashed and erupted into flames at the High Falls exit ramp
after outrunning Monroe and Butts County deputies early
Sunday morning.
A Monroe County deputy first spotted the black Dodge
Charger Scat Pack headed north on 1-75 just north of the
Hwy. 42 exit (189) north of Forsyth and clocked him at 102
mph. Before the deputy even tried to pull the car over, it
had accelerated to 137 mph. The driver refused to stop in
creasing to 169 mph and deputies lost sight of the vehicle.
About five minutes later a passerby saw a man on the
northbound High Falls exit ramp and a Charger in the
wood line starting to catch fire. Monroe and Butts depu
ties arrived and began trying to remove passengers and
to extinguish the fire. Deputies were able to remove two
occupants but were no longer able to see due to smoke
and flames. Four men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Three guns were located on the scene as well as 17 credit cards.
Sheriff Brad Freeman said deputies in Bleckley County and Twiggs
County had chased the same car before it got to Monroe County,
and the men are linked to a shooting in Henry County and a robbery
in Gwinnett County. The survivors were ages 16 and 18 and one is
still at Navicent. Authorities said the survivors are refusing to talk to
them. The men killed were Oman Ellis, 21, G’nai Foster, 22, Jarvis
Redding, 18, and Tyron Barrett, 17.

redemption story!
After healing from
world-rocking shock and
heartbreak in 2011-12,1
met Scott in 2015. He lived
in South Carolina. Ilived
in Georgia with my three
children, the youngest of
whom was 15.
He drove thousands of
miles during our court
ship, more than once doing
immediate round trips to
comfort me or “be there
for one of the children. We
talked daily - still do.
He left his life of more
than 50 years and his high
level position in South Car
olina to move to Georgia
to marry me. His reason
ing? “Your work is your
ministry. My work is a job.
Jacksons high school years
should not be disrupted.”
Married for a little more
than six years now, he still
calls middle-aged, gray
haired me his “pretty girl”,
“pearl of great price” and
“promised land” He
has tenderly nursed
me - and our children -
through sickness, surgeries
multiple broken bones and
other challenges. He calls it
“his privilege”.
Since we started dating
to present day, he keeps a
florist on speed dial. As
an example, he sent me a
beautiful floral arrange
ment January 4 and a dozen
red roses this week - “just
because”.
He loves planning shared
experiences. Because of
this, we’ve enjoyed the
ater, movies, concerts and
travel - making wonder
ful memories together.
We also make wonderful
memories just doing the
mundane of life together,
sharing car rides, authentic,
