City says yes to another crypto mine
NEW BUISNESS
IN TOWNHJfc.
By Diane Glidewell
news'-mymcr.net
Just after rejecting a cryp
tocurrency mining farm
in Forsyth, city council
approved an agreement
with six other cities to
supply electricity for a new
cryptocurrency mining
farm in Fitzgerald, Ga. The
agreement is with the same
group of cities that supply
electricity for Blockstream’s
cryptocurrency mining
operation in Adel.
Forsyth was paid over $2
million for its electric sales
to Blockstream in 2021,
with sales having increased
from about $124,652
in 2019 to $303,036 in
2020 and then jumped to
$2,036,865 last year. The
partnership is between
seven of the MEAG (Mu
nicipal Electric Authority
of Georgia) 49 cities. Each
of seven partner cities
shares equally in the sales
and profits, with the excep
tion that there is possibly
some additional income for
the host city. The Fitzger
ald agreement followed a
long debate and ultimate
rejection of a cryptocur
rency mining farm on
Berner Ave. Most of the
audience had left before the
Fitzgerald project, possibly
with another profit in the
millions of dollars in a few
years, was approved.

One of his favorite things?
Planning thoughtful surpris
es. Just this week, after I ac
cidentally broke an umbrella
stand we have (and glued
it back together because I
was unwilling to spend the
money to replace it), he had
a new one delivered.
That same day, a really nice
new pair of slippers were
delivered for me. He said, “I
noticed yours were looking
worn, and I wanted your feet
to be warm.”
His biggest surprise for
me so far? A baby grand
piano because he heard me
mention considering buying
a piano off Craigslist to learn
to play! Imagine coming
home to THAT out of the
clear blue sky!
Hearing him pray for me
and our children routinely

comfort and protection.
Nearly every day - more
than once each day - he’ll
just look over when we re in
the middle of other things
and say, “I love you.”
Twice he’s written about
me, had them framed.
They hang in our bedroom.
Amazing words of love and
admiration - far more than I
deserve.
