ending love & share it Lee’s Haircutting
T his week we
celebrate love on
Valentines Day. I
hope you did not
forget or procrastinate. As
of the writing
of this article I
admit to that
procrastina
tion, though
I have been
thinking
about the
perfect gift for
my wife.
I have
experienced
love many
times in my
life. The first
that I can remember was
from my mother. No, it
was not some incestuous
weird love but the love of a
mother for her child. It was
not until much later in life
that I realized many of the
sacrifices my mother made
for me.
In college one day I went
to my underwear drawer,
and it was empty. That had
never happened to me be
fore. I realized how much
I had taken my mother for
granted; how much my
mother had done that I had
never even thanked her for
doing.
That afternoon, as I was
doing laundry, I wrote her
a letter thanking her for all
she had done for me. That
letter meant so much to
her that it was still in her
wallet 19 years later when
she died. It was well worn
from being unfolded and
refolded as she reread it
countless times.
Though I no longer have
my mother with me here
on this earth, I will always
have her love that contin
ues in my heart.
I remember the love I felt
Rev. Keith Harris
when my children were
born. They were so pre
cious and small and depen
dent upon me. I did things
I never would have done.
I changed
dirty diapers,
I rocked them
when they did
not feel well,
I woke up at
their slight
est whim
per when I
normally slept
so deeply
nothing woke
me up.
As they
grew, I coached
sports I knew very little
about. Like my mother, I
made sacrifices for them
because of love. They are
grown and now raising
their own children. The
love continues.
And, of course, I experi
ence love with my beautiful
wife. She loves God, she
loves me, she loves others.
I feel so blessed to be able
to share life with her. She
is still my best friend, my
lover, my soul mate.
When we married,
we committed to com
municate deeply, resolve
conflict thoroughly, love
God and the life He has
given us together. We
have had difficult times
and times of pure joy. She
loves me well because she
loves Jesus even more.
And love continues.
God loved us so much
that He was willing to sac
rifice and even suffer to
restore our relationship to
Him. When I think about
Gods unselfish, sacrificial
love my heart is filled with
gratitude. I take Gods
letter to me and open
it every day to remind

Gods Love Continues.
I Corinthians 13:8 says,
“Love Never Ends”. If you
have ever been loved by
anyone at any time, you
know that Love Continues.
Let me encourage you to
read Gods love letter to
you each day starting in the
Gospel of John.
Also please consider
writing a letter thanking
someone who has loved
you. You never know how
much it will mean to them
as the Love Continues.
