Mom is my inspiration
ByAddison Devers
Who Inspires me the most? To answer
your question, I think I would have to say,
my mom. She is one of the most kind, car
ing, intriguing people you will ever meet.
She is the person who keeps me going
most days. She is someone’s Nurse Prac
titioner, someone’s daughter, someone’s
sister, and my biggest supporter.
My mother works five days a week mak
ing sure her patients are cared for, patients’
families have some peace of mind, and
caring for me. My Mom and I have always
been incredibly close. My mom always
supports me, she supports me in my art,
in sports and whatever I decide is right for
me.
My mother inspires me with her work
ethic, her generous heart, and how much
she does for her family. I would love to
have her work ethic and her motiva
tion. She’s a natural for caring and loving
people. I want to make memories and tell
stories as my mom does. I want my mom’s
carefree nature about what people think
of her.
I say I want all these traits but the thing
about being inspired by someone is not
to be exactly like them. It’s to find parts of
yourself that you love and inspire others.
I may not have my mother’s motivation
and busy body mentality, but I have a kind
heart to know what is right and what is
wrong.
My mother always taught me to do what
makes me happy. Well, writing articles for
my teacher makes me happy, drawing and
creating art makes me happy, being the
daughter of such a kind-hearted woman
makes me happy. So the answer to the
question is my mom. Who inspires you?
Valentine’s Day
By Kaelen Heath
The definition of love is
“an intense feeling of deep
affection.” Though that is
true, sometimes the word
love’ can have a rather dif
ferent meaning.
When we think ofVal
entines Say, we think of
buying gifts, such as, boxes
of chocolate or something
cheesy like a ravishing bou
quet, and gifting them to a
boyfriend or girlfriend. Of
course, that is a basic and
rather classic thing to do.
But Valentine’s Say does
not have to be just for
your certain valentine. If
you think about it, even if
you are without a crush,
Valentine’s Day can be for
everyone you love, mean
ing your friends and family.
The holiday is also for the
fondness of your friends
and does not have to mean
the attraction to the op
posite gender.
Though most of the
stereotypes of Valentine’s
Day can mean only show
ing love to husbands and
wives.. .thinking outside
of the box and showing
love to your peers as well
will make Valentine’s Day a
great day for all!
By Lydia Geer
Valentine’s day is a wonderful day. This is
a day for couples and friends to celebrate
their love for each other. It causes new
relationships to blossom.
Many people have gotten closer to others
because of Valentine’s day. People celebrate
this day in many different ways that are fun
and exciting. It allows a break for people to
appreciate the love they have around them
and show that appreciation to others.
By Wendy Nieuwboer
Valentine’s Day is lovely.
Valentine's Day is a day to
show appreciation and love
for the people around you.
You can show appreciation
for anyone; friends, family,
acquaintances, or even
people you don’t know.
Some people don’t have
that much luck finding a
special someone to spend
Valentine's Day with, but
they are able to spend it
with friends and family
they hold close. If you see
a person all alone for Val
entine’s day, help them out!
You can make their day
through a simple gesture
of kindness, such as giving
them flowers, offering to
be their valentine, or just
spending time with them.
This day isn’t about being
alone and sad, it’s about
spending time with the
people dearest to you. Have
a great Valentine’s Day!

Robotics Team goes to State
By Abigail Beasley
There are two Robotics
teams at Monroe County
Middle School. There is
a sixth-grade team and a
seventh combined with an
eighth-grade team. We had
the honor and opportunity
to go to the State robotics
competition. We had so
much fun. The seventh and
eighth-grade team got a
third-place trophy for the
robot table (where you have
programmed the robot to
complete tasks around the
board). The sixth-grade
team did not get a trophy
but did excellent at the
competition. Even though
we did not win we had an
amazing time and repre
sented our school well.
While there we complete
various tasks to correctly
represent the task at hand.
Some things we did were:
present our project, which
this year was cargo con
nect. Cargo Connect is
where you find ways to
improve or create a way to
change the way we trans
port cargo.
Another task we did was
core values. Core Values is
where you show the judges
or people around you how
you have worked together
to represent your team.
Some core values include
inclusion, teamwork, fun,
discovery, impact, and so
much more. The last thing
we presented was robot
design, this is not to be
confused with robot table.
Robot Design is where you
and your team discuss how
you have improved your
robot and your trial and er
ror process of working with
your robot.
When at competitions
like this there can some
times be a lot of pressure.
You want to do your best
but sometimes can’t help it
when you want the trophy.
This is not about the tro
phy, though; it is about the
journey and the people that
go with you. When I joined
the team this year there
were some new people.
I have since then made
friends with these people.
I have made many friends
at these competitions as
well. When I got to practice
I look forward to seeing
these people that I have
made friends with.
As you may now have
learned, robotics is not
like the stereotypes that
you may hear about. It is
about friendship, working
together, and hard work
put all into one. We have so
much fun at these practices
and competitions. I am
sad that our season will
end, but am happy that I
got some amazing friends
and experiences out of it. I
hope that those who decide
to try robotics in years to
come have just as much as
I have had. After all, I do
keep coming back.

The biggest challenge of
this school year
By Hunter Dorn
There have been many
challenges this school
year. We have had many
projects, tests, and home
work. Some of the bigger
challenges were mostly
projects.
I had a project in science
class where I had to make
a mousetrap-powered
car. I had a good design,
but some of the materi
als wouldn’t stay together,
things wouldn’t turn, and
the hole for the axle was
too small. I spent many
hours testing and building
the car. After two days, I
had finished prototyping
and building the car. After
that, I only had to write
about the process and turn
it in. In summary, there
have been many chal
lenges this year.
