BURGLARS
Continued from page 1A
The Silverado ran
through a stop sign at
Hwy. 83 and drove on
the wrong side several
times before wrecking
into a ditch when Phipps
blocked the truck with
his patrol car to prevent
them from reentering the
highway While Phipps
was handcuffing Robin
son, Andersen pushed
Rodgers out of the way
and ran to the drivers
seat of Phipps’ patrol
vehicle. Phipps then left
Robinson to help Rodgers
who used his taser on the
suspect who was pulled
out to the ground. Ander
sen told them he needed
an ambulance because
he ingested heroin, meth,
and ecstasy pills during
the chase.
Meanwhile, Robinson
took advantage of the
distraction and fled on
foot, still wearing cuffs
behind his back. Phipps
gave chase but lost sight
of him in Juliette Homes
Trailer Park and deputies
canvassed the area.
A resident of the trailer
park notified deputies
that an empty trailer
home door was open be
fore she left home earlier
in the day but later was
closed after law enforce
ment arrived. Deputies
then entered the trailer
and found Robinson
hiding in the bathtub. He
gave several false names
and dates of births, but
his identity was soon dis
covered and he was taken
to jail.
Four grams of powder
cocaine, 2 Percocet pills,
2 hypodermic needles,
power tools, and a pair
of blue latex gloves were
found in the Silverado. A
quantity of jewelry and
money was also found on
Andersen and a womans
watch and an earring
were on Robinsons
person.
Andersen was taken to
Atrium Health for drug
ingestion and then to
jail. He was charged with
fleeing, reckless driving,
speeding, driving on the
wrong side of the road (2
charges), running a stop
sign (2 charges), obstruc
tion, entering an auto
mobile, stolen automo
bile, littering, and drug
possession (2 charges).
Andersen also has war
rants for stealing a car
from Houston County.
Robinson was charged
with 4 counts of obstruc
tion and 2 counts of drug
possession.
Freeman said the pair
had already burglarized
one home and hit two
more in Butts County
before being captured in
Monroe.
